Darkroom No. 2

As today marks the one year anniversary of this blog I thought I’d post a second darkroom photo (Darkroom No. 1 was my first post so this seemed fitting). The multiple-mes are a result of keeping the camera shutter open for the entire time it took to process a print (6 – 7 minutes… after test strips and exposure).

My most sincere thanks to everyone for taking the time to stop by over this past year – I always appreciate each and every visit! Making the stuff I post here is a ton-o-fun, but it wouldn’t be nearly as exciting without such great folks to share it with. I might not have the highest stats in the world, but I definitely have the best visitors… you guys are awesome! Thank you!

  1. Quite touching when you say: “…I might not have the highest stats in the world, but I definitely have the best visitors… you guys are awesome” @^@ … so warm

  2. Well congratulations, Robert! Thank you in turn for providing me with entertainment for all of these months and being such an avid visitor to my own blog. You are so very kind and generous with your visits and comments. I’ve not yet discovered anyone kinder or more encouraging in my bloggy travels to date.
Hooray for you! Go, Robert, go! :)

    • You are so kind, S.E! I’m still trying to wake-up (haven’t even caffeinated myself yet), yet you are still able to make me smile! Thank you very much as well for all your great encouragement and support! It means a lot to me, thank you very, very much! :)

  3. When I saw this photo on my WordPress feed, I thought it was something retro, archival, not something new you made yourself. It has that old-fashioned, 1940’s-50’s feel to it, like a PSA is about to follow. Great idea, to show us where your mad genius operates from.

And congratulations on your very bloggy birthday :D I think mine is coming up late next month…better go shop for a dress or something.

    • That’s very nice to hear, Spectra! I love all things retro, so that might have influenced this a bit (I guess the content helps out a bit, too, though)!
Hahaha duck and cover, kids! :)

  4. I love the photo, Sig!…High tech.
Congrats on your one year anniversary too!. I know I have enjoyed each and every post I’ve read of your and all your replies too me…I should be thanking you too….So thank you!
    Hugs, xx

    • I’m very happy to hear you liked this one, Deb!
I spent a lot of time in that darkroom… and it was always a blast!
Oh, my! Thank you very, very much! Believe me, I’m the one who should be thanking you! Your continued kindness and support has been incredible, Ms. A… thank you so much! :)

  5. Well done, as always. Your blog has developed into a wonderful exploration & expression of creativity & vision. Each post always has something interesting to say visually & in words. Congratulations!

Why is a container of liquid called a “stop bath” instead of a “start bath” ? These dark room terms are so confusing.

    • Thank you very much for your continued kindness, sir!
Every time I see your avatar I know I’ll be treated to a wonderfully generous comment… thank you so much!
Hahaha… a very good question! And one that’s difficult to ‘shine a light on’, too! :)

  6. I’ve never seen a ‘real’ dark room. Thanks for the peek. Congrats on a year! And I’m with you, the stats aren’t as important as the wonderful people behind them.

  7. Happy Anniversary!

My parents have a dark room in their house . . . I used to develop my own B&W photos from my Kodak camera in the days before digital.

    Fixer . . . Developer . . . Stop Bath. Great pic!

  8. Happy Blogaversary, SIG! It’s always a treat to visit your blog and see what images you’ve posted. No two are alike.
    Have a great day!

  9. Thank YOU for sharing so much of yourself with the world, my friend. Your talent makes my days richer and I am blessed to know you. Congrats on your anniversary!

PS: Is that a PHILLIES cap I see??!!!!

    • Oh my goodness, Dishy! Thank you!
You always humble me with your kindness, but what a wonderful thing to say!
Sadly, no (although I can see that now, too)… my ever expanding widow’s peak has scared me off caps for the most part. Which is a total bummer! :)

    • Hahaha… why, thank you, sir!
      And an excellent idea!
(I do have one or two others… maybe I could even find a new dark room to shoot in! And use! That would really be something!) :)

    • That is very kind of you, N.M… thank you!
I’d really like to… and maybe I will at some point.
(winter weather tends to slow me down I think – well, that and the project(s) I’ve been working on are taking me forever… this current painting just won’t quit)! :)

  10. The dark ages of photography!

Congratulations on your first anniversary, SIG! It is always very interesting to see what you’ve come up with. You have so much talent and creativity, and your art is superb. It’s been a pleasure to see your stuff.

    • Hahaha… indeed!
Thank you so very much, Mr. M! When I was going back to link-up my first post I was reminded how you’ve stuck with me ever since the beginning of this silly little experiment… I sincerely appreciate your great kindness and continued support over this past year! It really does mean a lot! Thank you again, sir! :)

  13. a whole year – wahoo!
    congrats!
have only been stopping by the last few months, but glad to be on board.
thanks for all the great posts – here’s to many more (but no pressure!) :)

    • Why thank you, P&K!
But every time you stop by you say such nice things… and they are greatly appreciated!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed (until they start to feel tingly, anyway)! :)

    • Hahaha… if it looks organized it’s only because it wasn’t mine (I took this when I was still in college and this was part of the school’s photo lab). Something tells me if I ever manage to get one built it might just be the messiest of all time! I should probably put in a call to the Guinness Book people right now… give them a heads-up so they have some time to mentally prepare themselves for a visit. :)

  14. Congratulations on your Anniversary SIG and one
year in blogging at WordPress, now that is most definitely
something to be a happy bunny over :) Your second in
the Darkroom Series too… so how about that for some
exquisite thinking on your part? :)

I like your artistry too SIG… It is a brilliant offering :)
