This is from a long time ago. It’s printed too dark in some spots and too light in others. AND only two students besides me actually took the time to submit images (which was nice – got me the back cover and a few pages inside, too). Still, I was very, very honored Chiasma put up with my shenanigans. AND the pear is on FIRE! Right?! Right?! Eh.
another pear from this series here
About this image: scan of magazine cover – original image was a digital photograph, lightly modified
Wait, that’s not a speed bag?
I think there’s some laundry in there.
You know… ‘the whites’…
🙂
Did the pear have open heart?
The good news is that it appears to be recovering very quickly.
🙂
Good to hear, I was worried.
That pear looks like a dominatrix!
It definitely seems to be up to something!
(In all honesty this was just a good excuse to get rid of some old lighter fluid).
🙂
Or.. a football. Can’t decide.
Hahaha… I wonder if the NFL would approve?!
🙂
In some nearby countries, that would look like a pear shaped bomb! Love the concept. Also took a look a the other one which was done in cyanotype and loved it too! I read about alternative processes and so far that is all I have done, ready. I hope that I will now have the chance to take action on really learning it.
Thank you very much, Sir!
I really enjoyed making cyanotypes, Van Dykes, (and standard BW prints in general) etc… I really, really miss having access to a nicely stocked dark room. I hope to put one together some day… they’re so much fun!
A bit “Silence of the Lambs’-like.
Suddenly I’ve lost my appetite for fava beans and a nice chianti…
🙂
hahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!
I love the colors. I’m in southern NM. Here we’ve got chile that sometimes tastes like it’s on fire without being lit.
Thanks, Jason!
I love spicy foods – unfortunately they don’t seem to love me!
🙂
At first glance I thought it was a boxing glove.
Yo, Adrian! My gloves are missing again!
🙂
Franken-pear
*AAARRRHHHHGGGHHH*
(my Frankenstein could use a bit of work…)
Wow! I mean wow. I reeeeeeally like this. Are those staples? Let me check the other comments. Okay, no one says. I’m going to go with staples. I looked at the other pears, which I think I liked even better, actually, and I have to say that I sort of feel the same way about them that you do. Except I think texture is all they have going for them. So . . . great use of an otherwise useless fruit!
Those are indeed staples – the staple gun variety as opposed to the Office Space kind.
“And if, they take my stapler, I will, I will set this pear on fire.”
I’ve got one or two more in this series I may post at some point. Seems best if I space out the crazy, though.
Thanks very much, U.M.! 🙂
Hahaha! Oh the fun you can have with fire and pears! Better to staple them an set them on fire than have to eat them! (In my tongue’s opinion anyway…) 😛
Agreed, Annabelle!
Gravel does not make for good food! 🙂
Pear abuse, pear abuse!! I remember the other image, too. I still have nightmares. Poor pears.
Hahaha…
yeah, maybe I should give them a break. Well… I might consider it, anyway.
🙂
You certainly have a way with fruit, SIG. You know I love this kind of thing. I still like the other one best, more creepy looking!
Thanks so much, S.E.!
I agree… I’m partial to the other one, too…
PLUS it’s an authentic cyanotype… just thinking about a darkroom makes me tear up a bit…
🙂
My little Pear, you are so much nicer when you are quiet…
Hahaha…
I agree… this pear is normally such a loud mouth! 🙂
