Here’s the underside of an overpass… which is… up-ish, right? I’m not exactly following these challenges to the letter (hopefully I won’t get into too much trouble).
Larry Johnson: “I thought…”
Officer Foster: “Don’t think boy. Meow, do you know how fast you were going? Meow… what is so d*** funny?”
Larry Johnson: “I could have sworn you said meow.”
Officer Foster: “Do I look like a cat to you, boy? Am I jumpin’ around all nimbly bimbly from tree to tree? Am I drinking milk from a saucer? Do you see me eating mice? You stop laughing right meow!”
Larry Johnson: “Yes sir.”
Officer Foster: “Meow, I’m gonna have to give you a ticket on this one. No buts meow. It’s the law. Not so funny meow, is it? MEOW!”

About this image: digital photograph, moderately modified
Nicely confusing, SIG! It could just as well be ‘down’. Yay!
It is a bit disorientating, isn’t it? It’s probably a good thing I am sitting down!
Thank you very much, S.E.!
š
Desperation is a stinky cologne. (-Police Chief Grady)
Hahaha…
Aw, come-on, cap’…
š
Meow then… Thanks for sharing this post – I enjoyed your story, too. š
Hahaha… thank you so much!
And thank you for stopping by as well – it is very much appreciated!
Have a good day, meow!
š
I like it, very moody, and it makes me pull a face, which means it’s interesting (people pull faces if they try to understand something š )
I’m very happy to hear that you liked it – that’s the main thing, right? I wish I could tell you I had assigned some kind of deep, hidden meaning to this one, but honestly I just liked the abstracted shapes.
Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such a kind comment! I really do appreciate it!
š
Interesting – thanks
Thank you so much for visiting!
I really appreciate it!
š
Nice perspective
Thank you very much, N.M…
I didn’t have too long to get this figured out with all the traffic on this street.
š
Is that up or down. Now I have vertigo.
Both maybe…
not sure…
I think the room is spinning…
š
This is interesting – I can’t quite ‘see’ that it is an underside of an overpass, but I like the twist to the ‘up’ challenge. For whatever reason, I find it easier to see an elevator shaft out of the photo.
Really interesting, SIG.
Thank you very much, Ms. D!
Yeah, it’s abstracted quite a bit (to say the least). When I originally took this I was just trying to create some (hopefully) interesting shapes and textures. I’m not sure how appropriate it really is for this weeks challenge.
š
Hi, I’m Sandi- first time lurker. I scrolled through a few of your shots and really enjoyed them! Found you off American Wisdom. I pride myself on knowing quite a few films and usually can recongize “clips” (sigh) ohhh, mannn, I did not see Super Troopers…and I SO wanted to play along!
Can you forgive Me..ow?

**Monday’s weight in- Down 14lbs in 3 weeks! Yay!
Hello, Sandy!
Thank you very much for stopping by – I really appreciate it!
Hahaha… after such a kind comment, it would be awful for me to hold that against you, Meow, wouldn’t it?!
š
So glad you told us what the photo is – I was trying to figure it out, to no avail. I like the undersides of overpasses though, and the bottoms of bridges. Fascinating to see how they’re constructed. Neat pic, Inky.
It is very abstracted, isn’t it? I really like overpasses and bridges, too! I’d love to take many more of these photos… finding a spot without too much traffic can be a bit difficult, though!
Thank you so much, Dishy!
š
I now want to find a bridge and watch Super Troopers!
It’s one of those movies that doesn’t require too much heavy mental lifting (which I appreciate from time to time)!
Thank you so much for stopping by again, Megan! I really appreciate it!
š
A problem with not being first comment. I can’t say, “Is that from Super Troopers?”
That was one dirty little show that I saw in the movie theater. I was embarrassed that I brought my friends along.
And of course, nice photo š
PS: The meow scene was the best.
Eh, still counts.
Another reason I don’t like to leave my apartment.
Thank you very much, Mel!
P.S. It was one of my favorites, too.
š
This one makes me dizzy, possibly because I keep switching back and forth between seeing “up” and “down”.
Oh no! I probably should have posted a ‘woozy warning’ on this one! š
Well I’m not sure myself, as I’m pretty sure I’m looking down, and not up… lol… and it’s making me dizzy… Really do like the gritty feel here SIG…
Hahaha…It’s a very disorienting post! Please hang on to something solid until things return to normal!
Thank you very much, F.S!
š
My brain sees it as down. Like a strange pit beside a balcony rail. Maybe it’s a garbage chute for an apartment in a world made of cement.
“Hey be careful! You almost fell in there…”
Hahaha… I’m definitely staying away from the edge…
I don’t want to have to be hauled out of the garbage again!
š
Jim Gaffigan was in Super Troopers? I evidently need to watch that again.
I can’t quite orient myself under this picture, and I like that. Especially with the creepy black chasm there at the bottom.
Funny you should mention that…
I just watched this movie again a little while ago and I thought the very same thing when I saw him!
It’s not just nimbly bimbly, it’s also all topsy-turvy-like, isn’t it!
Thank you very much, U.M.!
š
This is a great photo in terms of, the composition, the angle and mainly, for me, the gritty finish. Excellent work!
That is very kind of you, Nigel… thank you so much!
Sometimes it’s fun to play around with a little texture!
š
Nigel said it better than I can. I love the gritty puzzling aspect. Keep going your own way!
That was very nice to hear, thank you, S.F.!
Thank you so much for your kind comment (and I’ll see what I can do)!
š
the brain is telling the eyes that it’s “up”
the eyes are looking at that black hole and refuse to conform.
or, is it the other way around? now, i’ve confused myself!
woof! i mean meow or was it woo…f! š
Hahaha… believe me, it’s almost always confusing around here!
I hardly ever know what’s going on. But sometimes that’s part of the fun!
Thank you very much, C.O.R… have a nice evening meow!
š
I’m scared of heights and sharks. One out of two ain’t bad!
It can be a very scary place around here, Loon – so I really appreciate your continued visits!
š
The up/down orientation is kind of ambiguous, which is intriguing.
So is the underside of an overpass an underpass? Maybe that’s the problem!
Thanks, Binky!
Hahaha… actually… I… think so. You just might be right about that!
š
I think he was drunk at the time Binky!!!!!
*hic*
Whu? No waaaaayyyyy!
*hic*
No what i notice no liter. the snoz berries taste like snoz berries.
Ha! That’s good… it took me hours to clean the place up!
He was freaking out, man!
š
Makes me think of that parkour stuff for some reason. Maybe because I feel that, if I tried it, I’d be falling down stairs and such.
I’m not gonna’ lie to you Jason…
I totally had to Google parkour.
I am very… ‘hip’.
š
At first glance I thought this was an elevator shaft. Very industrial.
You might like this if you’ve not seen it before: http://absurdoldbird.wordpress.com/2010/05/22/reservoir-cats-and-some-fish/
It sure looks like it could be, doesn’t it?
Meow, seriously… that was a very cleaver post you have there!
š
I thought I was looking down an elevator shaft. Very cool effect…I feel dizzy. š
Dizzy can be fun. Until someone loses their lunch, anyway.
Thank you very much, YAW!
š
I can’t tell if I’m looking up or looking down!!! Nicely done, lad!
Hahaha… welcome to my world!
Thank you very much, sir!
š
I was enjoying story. About picture – I have fear of hight and I felt a bit dizzy watching it š
I’m happy to hear you liked the quote!
I am not very good with heights, either. If there’s any possible way I can tip I feel like I’m going to at any moment!
Thank you very much for stopping by, Ms. B!
š
If I was that Larry, I would die from laughting. Even taking ticket š
About fear of hight… now it’s much better, than in the past. But in the past… brrr
I visited your space in the past, and I’ll repeat it with pleasure in the future:)
I’m glad your doing better with heights now… I don’t know if I’ll ever get over that phobia!
That is very kind of you, Ms. B! Thank you!
š
Believe me, it’s possible to reduce it. With small steps, and it needs a time, but it’s possible š
Very nice Gritty abstract – you had to look up – so seems a good reading of the challenge to me š
Thank you very much, sir!
I would like to take a few more of these… every time I pass one I see many new interesting shapes and textures!
š
Lots of great opportunities hiding in the structures we build – you just showed one š Keep up the great work š
I’m Martin, by the way – love to know your name cos you’re doing great work š
Thank you very much!
My name is Robert… or Bob… or, well… I’ve been called lots of names, really (and not all of them flattering)!
Thank you so much for visiting and for your very kind comments, Martin! I really do appreciate it! You are doing so as well!
š
Miau!! I am Spanish so I say Miau!! I don’t care, miau, if your photos are upside up, or downside down, or downside up, or upside down or… even sideways to the left, or sideways to the right– They are always downright Miau Great!!
š
You are always far too kind in any cat language, Juana!
Thank you very, very Miau much!
š
You are very Miau-welcomed! š
š
Great Shot, Sir!!!!Great lights, great texture!!!
I really like structures like this… there are so many interesting shapes in them (if only they were easier to photograph without being run over)! Thank you very much, sir! š
