So, this is a bridge… somewhere… in Minnesota. I think. I’m having a difficult time remembering for sure… it’s been a while since the seventies (at least two years before my time, anyway). Yeah… I’m still B.S.ing the dates, too.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Stephanie Mangano: “Nice move. Did you make that up?”
Tony Manero: “Yeah, well, I saw it on TV first, then I made it up. ”

Where did I leave my sunglasses?
Hahaha…
we could try pulling down the visors, I guess!
🙂
your photography delivers basic experiences …
I usually shoot pretty basic stuff and hopefully people can relate to some of it… on some level…
thank you very much, sir!
🙂
In 1976 I had been living in Australia for two years. And I hated it.
For some reason I suspected you grew up in that neck of the woods, S.E…
🙂
“Minnesota Bridge is Falling Down, Falling Down”
Doesn’t have the same ring to it.
Kinda reminds me of when the I-35W Mississippi River bridge in Minneapolis actually did fall down…
that was a pretty scary deal…
🙂
They don’t build them like they used to. Now they just make you drive high in the air on an open twisting rollercoaster track of a road. Yikes! Progress?
So true! When I’m traveling at high speeds over deep bodies of water I like to have a substantial structure underneath me!
🙂
Cool shot!
That is very kind of you to say!
Thank you so much!
🙂
Thanks for swinging by SLTW today ~ I had hoped for a real discussion about what’s broken and what we might do to fix it.
As you may have noticed, except for your comments, the reaction was extreme and utter apathy.
Your “disagreeing” with me was the best part of the day. 😎
So come back anytime. 😉
[Feel free to delete this comment . . . I don’t want to clutter up your thread with my “trivia.”]
It was my pleasure (I’m just relieved you aren’t too upset with me for running my mouth)!
Some of the most interesting conversations I’ve ever had were with people who I didn’t necessarily ‘agree’ with, but who were real, and honestly passionate about what they believe in… people who want the best for others, even if we ‘disagree’ about specific strategies to achieve that goal.
I appreciate that very much – as I do all your comments… I’m thrilled to have them here, thank you very, very much!
🙂
Awesome!
Sharing opinions is a delight for me ~ I just wish a few more people had jumped in with both feet (or even their little toe) to join the discussion.
Oh, well . . . may have been too heavy a discussion for a Friday.
TGIF, and all! 😆
I was a bit surprised by that, too.
Maybe I just scared everyone off! It happens every now and then!
Friday’s arrival is always a good thing!
🙂
I accept full responsibility.
I never should have posted such an expansive topic on a Friday . . . at the end of a long work week. My bad.
I’m sorry… I meant to say I was surprised more people hadn’t jumped into the conversation, too… I’m afraid that came out wrong. I have a tendency to do that, you know!
🙂
Gotcha! TGIF! 😀
🙂
There’s a weird feeling when you recognise something you think you know but can’t really put a handle on it – this photo and your comment give me that feeling:-) Great post.
Indeed! And I have far too many of those moments nowadays!
Thank you so much, sir – you are always very kind!
🙂
I’ve never been to Minnesota, but when I do, I’ll have to drive over this bridge. Super cool! I love the sunlight coming through. 🙂
I grew up only about an hour or so outside Minnesota (and many of my relatives live there), so we used to visit quite often. It’s a very scenic state, I think you would like it!
Thank you very much, Y.A.W.!
🙂
It is a nice shot, Inkston…..more nice lines crisscrossing one another…grid love 😀
I love old bridges like this…
I wish there were still a few more of them around!
Thank you very much for your kindness, Mary!
🙂
Looks like a bridge in my hometown. Nowadays, the bridges have to be all artsy-fartsy… 😉
I miss all the character of structures like this…
so much… stuff… to look at!
🙂
Sheez I thought it was your meccano 🙂
Hahaha… at the moment mine’s all tied up in a crane!
🙂
Mine’s rusting in the backyard after I lost my spanner 😦
NOOOOOoooooooo!
😦
So this is a pre-womb view? No wonder it seems a little overexposed.
Hahaha….
I was thinking retro, but I guess that had not occurred to me, Binky!
🙂
Nice capturing of great moment 🙂
That is very kind of you sir, thank you!
🙂
My friend you have a real skill with that camera.
You are far too kind my friend… thank you so much!
🙂
Interesting photo… and in July 1978… I had recently turned 18 years old… you know that is a long time ago… is this still standing?
I took this one about 7 or 8 years ago, but I haven’t been back there in a while, now (so it might not be). I know a lot of bridges like this were being updated / replaced.
🙂
I really like the way you get that old fashioned feel to your photos. Either that or it’s a really old bridge
Thank you very much, sir! (And, to be fair, it was a fairly old bridge, too… which helped me out a lot)!
🙂
This bridge shot you took, with such excellence reminds me of the pictures I have taken of bridges I’ve crossed vacationing over the years. I must dig them.
Great shot!
Thank you very much, Ms. A!
Aren’t bridges interesting?! Especially the older ones… they have so much character in them!
🙂
Great shot. Captures a classic tone.
Dentist:”Reminds me of The Bridge on the River Kwai.”
Photographer: “Kwai ?”
Dentist: “Because the bridge work.”
Thank you very much, sir!
Hahaha… aaahhhrraa aggghhha haa areaahh.
*Novocaine strikes yet again*
🙂
How is it that I don’t remember this at all. Obviously I was there… I was driving the car… yet the moment is not in my memory. Hmm. I think I need a nap. But even though I don’t remember it I like it! It makes me think of one of my favorite things in the world ROAD TRIPS!!! WOOHOO!
I always need a nap!
I was probably taking photographs to distract myself from worrying about potential problems on said road trip!
Oh no!
🙂
Very convincingly vintage 🙂
That is wonderful to hear, thank you!
🙂
Nicely done. When I saw this photo I immediately started thinking of all the bridges in our lives; physical bridges that get us from one side of a chasm to another, philosophical bridges that . . . well, do the same, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, etc. Hmmm. I feel a blog coming on! Thanks for the inspiration.
I have to admit, I took this one right out the car window (it was very spur of the moment), but I sure like the sound of your thoughts on this…
thank you, Ms. F!
🙂
Its the real sunbeam on the picture? It looks great. I like a lot effects of old photography.
Have a great Sunday friend 🙂
It is indeed a real sunbeam! It was such a nice day… the light was stunning… I really lucked out on that!
I hope you have a wonderful Sunday as well, Ms. B, Thank you!
🙂
love LOVE~
but true story, i hate driving over bridges.
and i hate flying.
and seafood.
and neil diamond.
whatever.
You are always so kind, B.D. – thank you!
Hahaha…
I ‘likes’ to look at ‘the’ bridges, but I’m not big on driving over them, either. Or flying. Or Neil Diamond. I’m all about fish sticks, though (high class… that’s just how I roll.)
🙂
I really enjoy the faked dates for the record, although I’ll admit that they sometimes do give me pause. “1967? This guy is quite the cradle-robber.”
Picking random dates is always a good time…
‘let’s see, I think I’m feeling… 20’s-ish today…’
🙂
Beautiful Inky. Reminds me of the shot Katie just put up over at Unapologetically Mundane. Was she inspired?? Inquiring minds want to know!
