I’ve been scratching my sagittal crest all night trying to come up with a missing ‘link’ joke for you. No dice. I guess you’ll just have to come up with one of your own. Which might be considered fun… in certain circles.
note: Sagittal Crest is the one of the few terms I remember from an Anthropology class I took back at the dawn of time. Well, that and Australopithecus Afarensis. Because it really rolls of the tongue.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
About this image: digital photograph highly modified to replicate cyanotype
Yummy colours, SIG.
Thank you very much, S.E.!
I was trying to reproduce the look of a stained cyanotype with this one.
🙂
love the shadow and the angles it creates.
That’s what drew my attention to this one, too, U.M.!
Thank you very much!
🙂
I love the prospective of this one, and of course the black and white. There is also something very eerie about it.
xx
I am a bit of a sucker for B/W…
it does feel a bit eerie, doesn’t it?! It didn’t so much at the time, because there was a lot of ‘normal’ activity going on around here.
Thank you so much, Ms. A!
🙂
Yes I agree with Debbie Adams, there is something eerie about this image; there is a stillness to it which gives it a very atmospheric quality and a strange beauty. Cool!
It was one of those things that got amplified in the photo…
there was a lot of every-day stuff in the area, but remove all that ‘stuff’, and this does start to feel quite strange. I tried to pump that up a bit with the processing, too. Thank you so much, Badpanda!
🙂
the photo is strong! good as a metaphor …
I appreciate that very much, sir – thank you!
🙂
Everyone oohs and ahhhs here. Am I the only one that is sarcastic about your work..haha
Hahaha…
I’m pretty sure most people come here for your sarcasm, Bearman!
(Don’t worry – I’m sure it’ll catch on that I don’t take myself all that seriously.)
🙂
Hello, don’;t forget me Bearman. I’m just loading up for a piss pull as soon as I think of something related to a chainlink fence!!!!!
Hahaha… now it’s a tag-team chain link battle royal?!
🙂
“Because it really rolls off the tongue”…. hahaha!
I think it might have been my ‘first words’.
It was a high-point. It’s been kinda downhill since then.
🙂
I just keep thinking the view from Oj’s window 😦
If the view doesn’t fit…
you must…
um…
landscape?!
🙂
Don’t you worry your saggital crest about it . . . with or without a missing link joke, that photo’s a winner. 😀
Hahaha… that is very kind, thank you!
And fortunate, too… I was starting to get a serious crest-ache!
🙂
Did you take an anthropology class on link fences? ‘Cause that sounds interesting.
To tell you the truth…
I was supposed to be taking ‘World History of Chain Link Fences’…
but I went to the wrong room and was too embarrassed to get up and leave!
🙂
Nice effective shadow. The shadow looks like some kind of demented staircase. October must be here!
Hey! Yeah! Now that you mention it, that does look like a staircase! I didn’t notice the 3-Dish aspect of that. But I’ll probably pretend I did. Fair warning.
🙂
Well done. I, myself, have a preference for barbed-wire crowned fencing. If I could only figure out a way to make that mesh with my white picket fence… any suggestions?
Hahaha! Now that would make for an interesting HGTV design challenge!
‘While we’ve incorporated concertina wire into our over all design scheme, we made sure to balance things out with a warm paint scheme. And several bowls of fake fruit.’
🙂
You could have inked in a graffiti message on the wall and ended up with a chain letter.
HA!
Maybe a nice big URL followed by, pass this along to 7 of your closest friends, and something… might… happen. Or… not.
🙂
link by link this is a back door job hmm thats the best i can do on jokes and i wasnt being rude lol xxjen
HA!
Very clever, J.G…
I think you’ve cracked the case!
🙂
i was thinking robbers great pic xxjen
I could definitely tell that!
Thank you very much, J.G.!
🙂
Photo taken from your prison break?
Did the bright orange jumpsuit give it away?!
🙂
You could have given the excuse that you’re locked up.. but we all know you’re far too nice for that! Great photo!
Hahaha…
I like that! Now… um… you wouldn’t happen to know any good lawyers, would you, Dishy?!
Thank you very much!
🙂
Great one,you have a great skill 🙂
Thank you so much, sir – you are very, very kind!
🙂
Don’t fence me in, SIG. Don’t fence me in.
Hahaha…
Okay, okay (the key is under the flower pot)!
🙂
The angles and lines are quite interesting, and the barbed wire gives it some menace. (I had to check out the sagittal link to know what it was!)
Thank you so much, sir! I’m very happy to hear it wasn’t quite as dull as that Anthro class!
🙂
Am SO glad you explained sagittal crest! Having a good weekend… you too! 🙂
I’m surprised I remembered anything from that class…
as soon as it would start my eyelids would get very heavy and time would seem to sloooow down!
Thank you so much for stopping by, WFFME… I hope the rest of your weekend goes well, too!
🙂
I don’t have a “missing link” joke for you, but I do remember the game show the “weakest link.” HA! 🙂
I think this photo is one of my favorites. It’s got a very mysterious air with the shadows and the barbed wire. Well done!
AH! Weakest link! I completely forgot about that show!!!
Thank you very much! That is very kind of you…
goodbye! *in my best quiz show accent*
🙂
The only missing links around my house are sausage links…. I eat everything on site while I scratch MY Saggital crest.
As always I love the shot…. it’s kind of West Side Story-ish 😉
Hahaha… that is understandable!
Saggital crest scratching can work up quite an appetite!
Thank you so much, Juana – you are always so wonderfully kind!
🙂
Wire you looking for a missing link, they are all their in the photo
Hahaha…
I guess that’s why I was having such trouble!
🙂
Oops wrong “There/Their”
Stupid language…
I trip over it much more frequently than you do, Tony!
🙂
a cool image with a link to your past studies.
btw, am glad you took anthropology, those are very impressive-sounding words, and they give me an opportunity to use one of my favourite expressions: “what does that even mean?” 😀
seriously, thanks for stopping by my “sunset” corner. much appreciated!
Thanks so much, P&K!
Hahaha… yeah… I probably should have also mentioned that just because I remember two words from that class, it sure doesn’t mean I have the first clue into understanding the first thing about them!
And you are welcome! A wonderful image (no surprise there) you have posted for that challenge! 🙂
You really excel at these types of images. Something that at first glance is so very simplified, yet so full of texture, intrigue and mystery at second glance. Very, very well done Inky!
I tend to struggle with these types images…
personally I find a lot of simple compositions elegant, but I’m always asking myself if I’ve included enough ‘stuff’ to keep it interesting.
You are always so kind, Mr. B – I thank you very, very much!
🙂
I’d say your struggles are going well, sir!
🙂
Sagittal Crest… that’s not something I expected to read today… well, at least there’s nothing wrong with your medulla oblongata 🙂
Hahaha…
now that’s some quality
H20commenting!🙂
As always, it took me a good three looks at this to figure out what was going on, but when I did . . . neat! I love pictures that only happen at a specific time of day. What a creepy place you must have been in, with the windows all chained up, too.
The lighting / shadows were about perfect, U.M…
usually that doesn’t happen (I always tend to be in the wrong place at the wrong time), but I think it worked out, here!
This is a lift station, and really it’s not in a very creepy place, although I did my best to make things look as shady as possible!
🙂
Cool picture, It looks like a dangerous place
It does look that way, doesn’t it?!
Fortunately it’s not dangerous at all… I just cropped out a lot of the ‘normal / everyday’ stuff… so it looks like a much more intimidating place in the photograph.
Thank you very much, sir!
🙂
Nice eerie kind of a photograph. I like it. Who cares about the missing link whatever anyway 🙂
Thank you very much, Ms. F!
*whew* What a relief! I was a bit worried about my lack-o-linkie material!
🙂
