Japanese Garden

Here’s a photo from the Japanese Garden at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Which means it must be time for a little something from an old stand-by / one of my all time favorite films: ‘Load up the random Lost in Translation quote! AND… SCENE!’

Kelly: “John, John. You are my favorite photographer. ”

John: “Ohhh… ”

Kelly: “No. You are! I only want you to shoot me. It’s true! Oh my God… I have the worst B.O. right now, I’m sorry!”

– Anna Faris & Giovanni Ribisi – Lost in Translation

  1. I love those arched bridges, very Monet-esque. You’ve made the colors reflective of the 1960’s Polaroid film, haven’t you? The whole thing is nice. Eerily beautiful, the way memories can sometimes be…

(Never saw Lost in Translation…am I missing something here?)

    • Absolutely, Spectra – you’ve caught exactly what I was going for! In all honesty I’ve modeled this border after iPhone shots I’ve seen…
      I don’t have one myself… but I do have Photoshop… so… fingers crossed!
Hmm… I think so. One of my favorites, although it seems people either love it or hate it (there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of middle ground for some reason)!
Thank you so much for your very kind comment!
      🙂

    • Why thank you, Ms. A!
I do indeed love arched bridges… well, I love most bridges, really! I don’t really like getting ‘stuck’ on long ones, but other than that I’m almost always a fan!

  2. WOW! Robby-san!! I love what you have done with it! I feel transported in time to a garden in Japan. It’s breathtaking!!! Now, my little, fantastic, photographer friend, pass me the sushi, please;)

    • Hahaha!
      No worries!
I can create a distraction like you wouldn’t believe! *doing a jig tight-rope / two left footed Lord of the Dance style down a row of cubicles* Your boss is sure to be preoccupied for HOURS!

      • NOT too much yellow. I enjoyed -and noticed that you used a color balance in the post- the ‘look’ in this photo. Along with other commentators also enjoyed the Lost in Translation quote 😉

        • I tend to be a sucker for yellows tones…
          most times, anyway.
I’m very happy to hear you enjoyed that, Ms. B! I throw those things in there quite a bit (provides a bit more latitude for comments, I think)!
          🙂

    • The whole botanical park is very nice, but this is definitely one of my favorite spots there.
Thank you very much, sir – that means a lot – especially coming from someone of your great talents!
      🙂

    • People I’ve talked to usually seem to either love it or hate it…
definitely worth checking it out, though (it’s still one of my favorites).
Oh! I hear you, Nancy! It’s cold and dreary here today, too! Boo!
      🙂

    • I’m afraid any tutorial I put together would make no sense and/or manage to be a complete snooze-fest. Still, if anyone ever has any questions about how I altered any image, I’m happy to try pass along some info!
      Thank you very much, sir!
      🙂
