Cat’s Head Point was quiet…. surprisingly… quiet…
Charlie Kelly: “Hello! Charlie Kelly here… local business man and cat enthusiast. Is your cat making too much noise all the time? Is your cat constantly stomping around, driving you crazy? Is your cat clawing at your furniture? Think there’s no answer? You’re so stupid! There is! Kitten Mittens! Finally, there’s a elegant, comfortable mitten for cats. I couldn’t hear anything! Is your cat one-legged? Is your cat fat, skinny or an in-between? That doesn’t matter, ’cause one size fits all! Kitten Mittens… you’ll be smitten! So come on down to Paddy’s Pub… we’re the home of the original Kitten Mittens! Meeeeeeoooooow!”
– Charlie Day – It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
About this image: faux tintype – digital photograph, highly modified
Beautiful! And quiet… can we move there now? How about meow?
Don’t take no for an answer, Annabelle!
Hugs, xx
Hahaha…
it doesn’t seem like she’s going to, Deb!
š
You know I can’t. It’s a life long dream! How could I ever be expected to give that up? š
Hey!
Look!
What’s that over there!
Look!
It’s a… thing!
š
And slippery, too!
Remember the ‘goo’ beach? I didn’t think we’d ever get all that orange slime off our ‘paws’!
š
Eww, yeah I do remember the goo. And the bugs. And all together this was a gross beach actually… But the photo is awesome! And I still want to move there (just maybe a little further down the coast). š
It didn’t seem to be quite as bad the second time we were there… although we didn’t wonder out nearly as far. I wonder if it’s better at different times of the year? I suspect that might be the case. Oh well, the other beaches seem to be nice pretty much all the time.
š
the photo is beautiful. But I’m terribly distracted by a longing for kitten mittens
Careful — if your cat doesn’t like the kitten mittens, you might get bitten.
But if she loves them, she’ll be smitten.
And
howmeow!š
Hahaha…
and with her gloved paws she’ll be a hittin’!
š
Hahaha…
I don’t blame you, N.M…
they’re bound to be the accessory of the year!
š
A cat is self-indulgent and I would like to be a cat.
Very true, Cocomino…
cat’s do seem to have a mind of their own, don’t they?!
š
Now, why didn’t I think of that? Patent pending, I’m sure!
Hahaha… a goldmine for sure!
Perhaps we can come up with a few ‘modifications’ and grab some of that Kitten Mitten bank, too?!
š
Bwahaha . . . I can hear Tigger now . . . But I don’t wanna wear mittens!
Hahaha…
that’s what they all say at first, Tigger…
you’ll love ’em! I’m sure of it! Maybe.
š
He needs more than the standard set of four…he needs one for that tail…
Red.
Hahaha…
There should be a buy four get a tail-warmer free promotion, don’t you think?!
While supplies last!
š
Run. Don’t walk.
ROFL!
Red.
Hahaha…
operators are standing by meow…
š
Dark, mysterious yet peaceful – I love it.
It’s a great place…
unfortunately the mosquitoes seemed to be loving it at the time, too…
but still… quite the view!
š
Oh, so beautiful…makes me long to get back to the beach a little soon this year.
Kitten mittens…hmmm.
Hugs, xx
I know the feeling, Deb!
(Can you tell I’ve been in a spring/summer kind of mood lately?)
Hahaha… intriguing, eh?!
š
I swear, the older I get the more brain cell drift away…crs I think it’s called.
I didn’t get my list right on my post as I wanted it, so I fixed it.
I have an award for you if you should decide to accept it.
Guidelines are here.

Hahaha…
CRS… I’ve got a terrible case of that, Deb! I’d say I’m pretty much the poster-child for it!
Oh… thank you so much, Deb! You are always so kind to me… you always make my day! I sure do appreciate your generosity! It’s so nice to be thought of! Thank you again, Deb!
š
I really like this one SIG as it has a sort of
eerie look to it, almost from one of my scripts š
Well there could be anything lurking just below
the waters surface, or maybe there is a ghoul
just out of camera shot? š Well I told you this
one looks a tad creepy, but guess what?
I definitely like it my
wickedly fine friend š
Have a ghoulishly
exciting evening now š
Androgoth
Many thanks, A.G.!
I’m so happy to hear you liked this one!
I guess it’s a good thing that my swimming skills are so lacking and I was forced to stay on the shore! Unless that ghoul was a vegitarian, I guess!
š
Beautiful processing results. š
Koan: Where does Cat’s head point ?
Towards the tail end of the sea just beyond the middens.
Midden, Defin.: an old dump for domestic waste which may consist of animal bones
Many thanks, sir!
Hahaha…
glad you defined Midden for me, elmediat…
that vocabulary might have left this cat scratching his head!
š
Nice image. I hope those lumps in the water aren’t cat’s heads, though.
Hahaha…
never fear…
no cats were harmed or in any way mistreated during the production of this image…
š
Glad to hear the cats were kept safe. You know they don’t like water. Nice image.
Hahaha… absolutely! That name must not extend very far beyond the shoreline!
Thank you so much!
š
OK, this better be a place and not something I have to find in the photo!!!!
Hahaha…
it is indeed a place, Loon…
no ‘Where’s Waldo-ing’ involved in this one!
š
quiet and tranquil — when it’s whispering spring here I always long for the ocean. thanks for the dip.
what’s the process for faux tintype?
Spring and the ocean sure has a nice ring to it, S.F… I feel exactly the same!
This was fairly similar to my faux wet plate collodion process… a scan of polyurethane digitally overlayed onto a photograph (the only real difference was this time I poured the poly. onto a piece of distressed aluminum flashing rather than a piece of plexiglass / clear acrylic panel)…
š
Quiet? An introverts paradise š I’d like to go there today, with a nice book of course.
Myers-Briggs ‘I’ approved, Mel!
š
I don’t want to tell you what I see. š
Did you spot Nessy, J.G.?
(I considered Photoshopping her in there… hmm… seriously, though… it might be fun to do a ‘hoax’ series… I might have to try that, at some point.)
š
Just enough movement. I need a boat. With an anchor. And an ice chest. With lots of wine.
Red.
AH!
That sounds like an idea!
I might have to go with beer, though… I’m still working on the whole ‘elegance’ thing.
Maybe Corona with lime… that seems like it might work!
š
The closest I get to beer is the black German lager. Tequila is my poison of choice. Followed closely by vodka. Mmm. Tequila. Is it 5 yet?
Red.
Hmmm… can’t say I’ve tried a beer like that before… sadly I’m not much of a connoisseur. My palate is about as sophisticated as the rest of me… which is (sorry to say) not very!
Hahaha… it’s got to be 5 o-clock somewhere, Red!
š
I have always preferred ale and lager to American beer. All in all, I would much prefer something which will put my lights out without so much effort as the 12 ounce curl. Call me lazy if you must, but there it is.. š
Red.
Hahaha…
Lazy? Nah! That’s what we call efficiency around here, Red!
š
And now for a drinking tip straight from my medication administration nursing class:
When you drink a shot don’t just swallow, hold the liquor under your tongue and swirl it around there for a minute. You will get ‘the effects’ quicker because it is absorbed faster and more efficiently under your tongue than in your stomach! Oh, the fun things you can learn from a nurse! š
I forget where I learned it…
But how can I respond to your comment if I don’t finish my drink first, Annabelle?!

Oh, thank you so much, Red!
You are far too kind!
Wowza!
Did I mention thank you?!
Or Wowza?!
š
That Charlie.. do you suppose it’s all the cat food that makes him so… special?
Such a dreamy photo, Inky.
Hahaha…
the side-effects have to be doing something…
but…
how else can the poor guy get any sleep?! With all those cats outside his and Frank’s apartment? š
Thank you so much, Dishy!
š
I have been scrolling though your side, I haven’t checked it for awhile. Does your talent have any boundaries?
Always happy to have you scroll through, sir, thank you!
And thank you so much for your extremely kind comment as well (as always)!
I sincerely appreciate your generosity!
š
Cat’s Head? Really? I mean, great excuse for one of the greatest moments in “Sunny” history, but . . .
Neat picture, though. Looks like a long-exposure? Or maybe just a really calm day. And I love the grain!
Hahaha… I know! I was totally surprised by the name, too. Which I just discovered a few days ago when I did some research (even though I’ve been there several times already)!
Thanks very much, U.M… long-ish I’d say (it was a bit cloudy that day). I was hoping to try some REALLY long exposures… Hiroshi Sugimoto type seascapes, but missed out on the opportunity. Some day, though… I hope…
š
Looking at this lovely photograph with longing, and I have no idea where Cat’s Head Point is! Content for now to have it as a state of mind!
Thank you very much, Ms. K!
It’s located in the Northwest portion of lower Michigan (on Lake Michigan)…
the beach is fairly rocky there (compared to many just a bit further south) so by walking out just a bit you can usually find a nice quiet spot to relax for a bit…
š
I’m just wearing my mittens today! Meowwww!
Ha! Excellent, Cristina!
Meowwww!
š
Yes, very peaceful looking.
It was an interesting place, S.E…
and the weather was a bit gray when we were there…
so it was a bit quieter I expect it is on sunnier summer days…
š
This image makes me think of a world outside time! I would love to visit it if I couldā¦
A very beautiful image my friend š
I often try removing elements suggestive of a particular era from photographs…
I think there’s something special about images that look as though they could be from any moment in time.
I’m not always very successful, so it was nice to hear you found a hint of that in this one… thank you, B.P.!
š
I don’t see a cat but I think I see a hairball.
Hahaha…
better to find it with your eyes than with your foot.
š
1-size-fits-all-who’s?
How to be sure that they’re in in fact, fittin?
I could just imagine the neighbour’s tom (actually he goes by Caesar, not Tom) – spittin’!
I suspect the last word on this
has yet to be written.
Nonetheless ’tis a great composition.
Now by the travel bug I have been bitten.
Urk urk, this is so lame but couldn’t myself š
Hahaha… that’s awesome, P&K! I sure wish I could come up with an appropriate response! Sadly I’m lucky if I can form a coherent thought… one that also rhymes is a bit above my pay-grade!
I hope you have a great day, meow!
š
some of the best verse does not rhyme, so not to worry.
consider:
roses are red
violets are blue
most poems rhyme
but this one doesn’t.
Hahaha…
so funny! AND interesting… I considered trying to use the old roses / violets in my original reply but couldn’t even get that to fire… obviously you’ve had no trouble at all, though… hilarious!
š
Hey what gives??? I can’t see no pointy headed pussy cats to chase. But it looks like a nice beach to have a swim at
Hahaha…
good call, Angus! Those cat’s must be very, very well hidden!
It was a very nice beach, indeed! I think you would like it!
š
Beautiful treatment, SIG. Really nicely done – perfect for my mood on this rainy day.
Thank you so very much, Mr. H!
It’s raining here, too, right now…
I guess it really is ‘something in the air’!
š
Love the finishing and the tone of the photo… awesome
Many thanks, Nigel!
I had a blast shooting this one
(and a lot of fun processing it as well)!
š
Serene and peaceful…
It really was, C.O.R…
minus a few mosquitoes / flies anyway!
š
