Crafted in a well-ventilated area. Kinda. Have a great weekend, everyone!
Another… ‘unusual’ conversation heard only here:
Me: “Hey, Annabelle, if you need me I’ll be outside spray-painting this pepper.”
Annabelle: “Out back?”
Me: “Yeah.”
Annabelle: “Oh, okay. Good luck.”
About this image: lightly modified digital photograph of spray-painted pepper
So pristine. I like it a lot, Robert.
Thank you very much, S.E…
I tried re-painting it black after this photograph, but the paints ‘fought’ with each other and blistered up.
Guess I’ll have to try my low-key shot with either another pepper or something different. Or both.
Kind of a bummer – it would have been fun to see the results of both conditions with the same subject.
🙂
Yeah, it would have been good to be able to use the same pepper but I’ve just seen the black one and they still make a fine pair.
Wouldn’t that have been cool? Two different ‘looks’ with the same pepper? Oh well. What can you do.
🙂
Playing in your food again, I see. Did Annabelle tell you to bring it back, it’s your supper?
Hahaha…
you should see my mashed potato castle!
Gravy moat and everything!
Wait… what’s that… I got a bit distracted with my food again!
🙂
an albino, how cool is that. I can’t tell from this angle, but are its eyes red, too? 🙂
but seriously, this looks striking!
On my smart phone which is not so very smart. Won’t allow me to sign in with my usual moniker, pix & kardz. But it’s really me 🙂
Technology, P&K!
When it works the way it’s supposed to it’s incredible!
When it doesn’t… yeah. I feel your pain.
🙂
Hahaha…
does your pepper have dry, red eyes?
*in my best Ben Stein*
Thank you so much, P&K!
🙂
Peter Piper picked a peck of painted peppers.
Hahaha…
I think I saw him selling the stuff by the seashore, too!
Wait… that might have been someone else…
🙂
I think I thought of Laura’s comment before I saw it, but it was probably just wishful thinking.
Lovely photo and lovely dynamic with Annabelle. She must know you pretty well to have such a blase response to your announcement of what you were doing.
Happens to me ALL THE TIME.
Well, SOME times, anyway.
Hahaha… SO TRUE! That’s what I find so funny… I could say anything at this point and I’m lucky to get half an eyebrow raise.
🙂
It’s so shiny and pretty!….but don’t eat it. 🙂
Really, it is a very nice looking bell pepper. I would mind it sitting in my kitchen….so send it to me…lol
Hugs, xx
Hahaha…
definitely didn’t taste as good as I’d expected. I mean… probably wouldn’t. Er, you know.
Thanks you very much, Deb!
🙂
Did you paint that pepper with White Out??
Hahaha…
well…
you’ve probably noticed the way I ‘spell’…
🙂
Wow, it’s very interesting. I think it as new white pepper. It must be delicious and not hot. 🙂
Thank you very much, sir!
Agreed! It looks like it might be kind of minty!
🙂
Wonderfully strange. I wish it could last and not rot away.
Thanks so much, Mr. H!
The ephemeral food group!
I tried to paint it black later but the paints didn’t play along (blistered, bubbled-up and peeled away).
Guess I’ll have to try it out on a different one.
Bummer.
🙂
The Banksy of bell peppers!!!!
This was right before I put on a mask and chucked it at the dumpster…
🙂
maybe more creative than the HEINZ TOMATO SOUP by Andy Warhol …
Oh wow!
What an incredibly kind thing to say!
Thank you so very much, F.T.!
You’ve made my day, sir!
🙂
Looks like a plastic thing that you’d find in a fake fruit bowl and accidentally try to eat!
*chew chew chew*
Why…
that might be taking things a bit far, Ms. C…
*hides gnarled plastic fruit behind back*
😉
You know how much I enjoy your dialogs! ALWAYS puts a smile on my face!
Peppers aren’t for EATING anyways, IMO. MUCH better use here! 🙂
Wonderful! It’s pretty amusing, when I stop to think about it… the ridiculous things I do that Annabelle just takes as second-nature by this point.
Thanks so much, M.P.!
🙂
Oh, my goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh.
So. One of my blogfriends asked me to fill out a questionnaire the other day for a feature she does on other bloggers’ favourites of the moment. I said that my favourite home decorating thing of the moment is buying tchotchkes at the thrift store and spraypainting them a a wild color.
AND THEN THIS. This.
You should have seen me when I was working on this thing, U.M.
I’d imagine about the only thing more bizarre than watching your neighbor spray-paint a vegetable is watching a neighbor who is trying to remain unseen while spray-paint a vegetable.
🙂
it would have been stupid spraying painting it red , right?
Definitely would be more subtle… might take people a while to notice the red stem before they realized exactly what was up, but that might be pretty cool, too, Loon!
🙂
Beauty of simplicity Mr. SIG. I like it 🙂
Thank you very much, Ms. B!
I really enjoy a minimalist look… but I usually struggle with it. Which is strange, considering there’s ‘not much too it’.
🙂
I’m just trying to work out what recipe it would go best in! Another excellent attack of the weird 😉
Hahaha…
Where’s my Michelin Star?! I’m still waiting!
😉
Thanks so much, Martin!
I’m not authorised to award such trinkets, only comments! You’ll have to ask Bibendum about that 😉
Hahaha…
The official request is in the mail!
🙂
I hope that wasn’t an organic pepper. What a waste! 🙂
You crack me up, SIG. “Crafted in a well-ventilated area. Kinda.”
I like this picture, and I never tire of your creativity and ideas.
Hahaha…
no worries, Ms. D… ‘cheap’ on sale variety.
I always feel a bit bad about wasting food…
but the well-ventilated thing helps with that. A bit.
Thanks so much, Ms. D!
🙂
looks totally ceramic! awesome!
Thanks, J.G.!
Good thing it doesn’t look like MY ceramics (it that were the case it would be a broken piece of goo)!
🙂
“Spray-painted pepper.” I don’t believe I’ve ever heard that phrase before!
Looks like one of those porcelain ornaments, actually.
Hahaha… indeed! I was thinking the same thing myself!
I’m trying another one at the moment… keeping my fingers crossed I can get it to work out okay…
🙂
Coming here is always a treat… it’s like seeing the cool stuff that the mad scientist has created!!!
Hahaha…
thanks so much, Mr. B!
*crash of thunder*
🙂
Pepper in Black Moss… Pepper in White Floss… Pepper in, uh, good photo 🙂
Deddley – da…
Deedley – do…
Japanese Ghost…
I sure do thank you!
🙂
You come up with the most unique art photos…..way cool 🙂
I was hoping everyone would like this one…
it’s a bit on the wild side… but then, many things over here seem to be!
🙂
I absolutely love this! What a beautiful idea. Makes me want to go outside and spray paint some carrots still in the garden from last summer. My cucumbers, once they hatch, are definately in for some trouble this growing season. Sprayed veggies would make very cool centerpieces, too.
That’s an excellent suggestion, Spectra!
I nearly tried artichoke…
and both Annabelle and Dishy suggested pineapple (which would be pretty cool with all the textures).
I can see myself going through a lot of paint!
Thank you so much!
🙂
This could be a series. The artichoke would be awesome 😉
Painted fruits and veggies everywhere…
Thank you so much, Spectra!
I think it might have potential… maybe!
🙂
Cool 🙂
Thank you, Eden!
🙂
You want some purple fries with that? We can super-size your fries! 😀
Hahaha…
Someone must have told you I always super-size!
🙂
Love this!!! Maybe a pineapple next??
I’ll definitely have to put that on my list!
Annabelle actually suggested the very same thing… great minds!
Thanks so much, Dishy!
That looks great. Who’da thought of doing that???
Hahaha…
the idea was probably brought on by something I ate…
🙂
This is one cool pepper SiG! Hat’s off to your wonderful Annabelle who has the knack for asking the perfect question!
Oh, and you have a great week-end as well!
Thank you very much, Ms. K!
I hope you had a terrific weekend!
🙂
Many thanks, Ms. K!
Hahaha… indeed! Stuff like this doesn’t even bring about an eyebrow raise anymore! Who’d have thunk it!
🙂
Less is more! ^^ Now, I learn that!
I think that’s usually the case!
It’s still a challenge for me, though!
Thank you very much, Cristina!
🙂
Sire! What an amazing idea. 🙂 Great work 🙂
Hahaha…
it’s… uh… ‘something’… I hope!
Thank you so very much, Nigel!
🙂
I love the reflections in the gloss on the top of the pepper. I like the way it is sits on the backdrop. Very cool, figuratively and visually.
Red.
Thank you very much, Red!
Yeah… those reflections… as soon as I popped the cap of the paint it actually dawned on me I was creating mirrors to photograph. Time to break out the airbrush tools!
🙂
Hey I thought that I had commented on this one, but it doesn’t take
anything away from your superb offering SIG and now that you have
added a second Pepper to the mix all i can say is that your talents
for artistry are just out of this world, wicked 🙂 🙂
Androgoth
Thanks so much, sir!
I was a bit bummed out I couldn’t use the same pepper for both – kind of a two looks / Jekel and Hyde kind of thing. Oh well. Still lots of fun. And a good excuse to break out the paint!
🙂
Yes I can see that using the same one would have been useful
but just keeping them both separate has given each subject the
clean effect, as in, okay a bit more paint required but the effort
was totally worth it by the most excellent results 🙂 🙂
Have fun today SIG 🙂
Androgoth
I guess that’s a good point.
You always know how to put a positive spin on these things, A.G.!
Which I appreciate very, very much of course!
Thank you very much, sir!
🙂
Awesome! It looks just like glass. Reminds me of some of the amazing Murano glass creations I got to spy in Venice last week. Well done.
It was quite a bit of fun to mess around with, Nancy… except I suspect the neighbors were really scratching their heads (three coats of paint, so there were plenty of opportunities to witness the crazy)!
I can’t even say Venice without drooling myself a canal!
Must be ridiculously beautiful!
🙂
This is making me think of the Matrix…
I know kung fu…
🙂
Excellent composition and very out of the box creativity.
BTW There are easier ways of getting white pepper. 🙂
If you want to get in with “artiste crowd” , video record the sequence: painting a red pepper green, a green pepper red, and red & green spots on the white pepper. Do big bow-up images of each . Project video on last screen. Entitle the whole thing “genetically modified food”. Add a live nude covered in spray paint and they will love, your wife, ……….., not so much. 😀
Hahaha… fortunately ‘crowds’ are not my kind of scene.
I’m more the reclusive eccentric wanna be artist type.
*standing in dark and brooding pose while trying not to laugh*
🙂
