Pepper in White Gloss

Crafted in a well-ventilated area. Kinda. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Another… ‘unusual’  conversation heard only here:

Me: “Hey, Annabelle, if you need me I’ll be outside spray-painting this pepper.”

Annabelle: “Out back?”

Me: “Yeah.”

Annabelle: “Oh, okay. Good luck.”

    • Thank you very much, S.E…
I tried re-painting it black after this photograph, but the paints ‘fought’ with each other and blistered up.
Guess I’ll have to try my low-key shot with either another pepper or something different. Or both.
Kind of a bummer – it would have been fun to see the results of both conditions with the same subject.
      🙂

      • I think I thought of Laura’s comment before I saw it, but it was probably just wishful thinking.

Lovely photo and lovely dynamic with Annabelle. She must know you pretty well to have such a blase response to your announcement of what you were doing.

        • Happens to me ALL THE TIME.
          Well, SOME times, anyway.
Hahaha… SO TRUE! That’s what I find so funny… I could say anything at this point and I’m lucky to get half an eyebrow raise.
          🙂

  1. It’s so shiny and pretty!….but don’t eat it. 🙂
Really, it is a very nice looking bell pepper. I would mind it sitting in my kitchen….so send it to me…lol
    Hugs, xx

    • Thanks so much, Mr. H!
      The ephemeral food group!
I tried to paint it black later but the paints didn’t play along (blistered, bubbled-up and peeled away).
Guess I’ll have to try it out on a different one.
      Bummer.
      🙂

    • Wonderful! It’s pretty amusing, when I stop to think about it… the ridiculous things I do that Annabelle just takes as second-nature by this point.
      Thanks so much, M.P.!
      🙂

  2. Oh, my goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh.

So. One of my blogfriends asked me to fill out a questionnaire the other day for a feature she does on other bloggers’ favourites of the moment. I said that my favourite home decorating thing of the moment is buying tchotchkes at the thrift store and spraypainting them a a wild color.

    AND THEN THIS. This.

    • You should have seen me when I was working on this thing, U.M.
I’d imagine about the only thing more bizarre than watching your neighbor spray-paint a vegetable is watching a neighbor who is trying to remain unseen while spray-paint a vegetable.
      🙂

  3. I hope that wasn’t an organic pepper. What a waste! 🙂
You crack me up, SIG. “Crafted in a well-ventilated area. Kinda.”
I like this picture, and I never tire of your creativity and ideas.

    • Hahaha…
no worries, Ms. D… ‘cheap’ on sale variety.
I always feel a bit bad about wasting food…
but the well-ventilated thing helps with that. A bit.
      Thanks so much, Ms. D!
      🙂

  4. I absolutely love this! What a beautiful idea. Makes me want to go outside and spray paint some carrots still in the garden from last summer. My cucumbers, once they hatch, are definately in for some trouble this growing season. Sprayed veggies would make very cool centerpieces, too.

  5. I love the reflections in the gloss on the top of the pepper. I like the way it is sits on the backdrop. Very cool, figuratively and visually.
    Red.

    • Thank you very much, Red!
Yeah… those reflections… as soon as I popped the cap of the paint it actually dawned on me I was creating mirrors to photograph. Time to break out the airbrush tools!
      🙂

  6. Hey I thought that I had commented on this one, but it doesn’t take
anything away from your superb offering SIG and now that you have
added a second Pepper to the mix all i can say is that your talents
for artistry are just out of this world, wicked 🙂 🙂

    • Thanks so much, sir!
I was a bit bummed out I couldn’t use the same pepper for both – kind of a two looks / Jekel and Hyde kind of thing. Oh well. Still lots of fun. And a good excuse to break out the paint!
      🙂

      • Yes I can see that using the same one would have been useful
but just keeping them both separate has given each subject the
clean effect, as in, okay a bit more paint required but the effort
was totally worth it by the most excellent results 🙂 🙂

        Have fun today SIG 🙂

        • I guess that’s a good point.
You always know how to put a positive spin on these things, A.G.!
Which I appreciate very, very much of course!
          Thank you very much, sir!
          🙂

    • It was quite a bit of fun to mess around with, Nancy… except I suspect the neighbors were really scratching their heads (three coats of paint, so there were plenty of opportunities to witness the crazy)!
I can’t even say Venice without drooling myself a canal!
      Must be ridiculously beautiful!
      🙂

  7. Excellent composition and very out of the box creativity.
BTW There are easier ways of getting white pepper. 🙂

If you want to get in with “artiste crowd” , video record the sequence: painting a red pepper green, a green pepper red, and red & green spots on the white pepper. Do big bow-up images of each . Project video on last screen. Entitle the whole thing “genetically modified food”. Add a live nude covered in spray paint and they will love, your wife, ……….., not so much. 😀

    • Hahaha… fortunately ‘crowds’ are not my kind of scene.
I’m more the reclusive eccentric wanna be artist type.
*standing in dark and brooding pose while trying not to laugh*
