Two-Week Hiatus

It looks like I will be away from my desk for two weeks or so… typical hi-jinx should resume on or around the fifth of November.

In the meantime keep calm and enjoy this Friggin’ Loon endorsed graphic.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

About this image: this one’s actually not so much about the image – but it’s Illustrator and Photoshop

Coffin of The Singer of Amun, Henut-Wedjebu (1390-1353 B.C.)

One nice thing about camera phones is increased flexibility when reaching up/over the top of plexiglass enclosures. Because you never know when you might run into the lovely Singer of Amun.

Indiana Jones: “Meet me at Omar’s. Be ready for me. I’m going after that truck.”

Sallah: “How?”

Indiana Jones: “I don’t know, I’m making this up as I go!”

Of Reposts and Shameless Self-Promotion

I usually don’t repost things, but I was so shocked pleasantly surprised to learn this photo made it into The Antique & Classic Camera Blog Image Contest I decided to make an exception! If you’ve got an extra minute or two please consider checking out all the other great entries (featuring some beautiful equipment and processes). And, if you feel like it, please vote for any of the eight images you like best. Although, if entry No. 4 happens to be your favorite… I wouldn’t feel too badly about that.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Tungsten

The circles were meant to represent electron orbitals. And Tungsten’s atomic number is 74. Other than that, your guess is as good as mine. This is the sort of thing that happens when I stare at my computer for too long.

Steve Zissou: “Ned, how many fingers am I holding up?”

Ned Plimpton: “I don’t know. That’s not my job. Too many to tell. How many finger…”

Steve Zissou: “He’s gonna be just fine.”

Of a Feather

I actually finished a painting in under a month. Which is warp speed… for me, anyway.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Movable Type

Gently used stamps taking a soak. That’s about all I’ve got today. I often have difficulty ‘using my words’, you know.

Q: “I… am a writer.” [applause]

Kodar Lens

Here’s a different look at my Duaflex II. And, yes… I remembered to duck, so any reflections do not belong to me. You’re welcome. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Derek Zoolander: “Well I guess it all started the first time I went through the second grade. I caught my reflection in a spoon while I was eating my cereal, and I remember thinking ‘wow, you’re ridiculously good looking, maybe you could do that for a career.”

Matilda: “Do what for a career?”

Derek Zoolander: “Be professionally good looking.”

Empire

Here’s a mixed media thing I made a while back. So… that happened.

General Maximus Decimus Meridius: “Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?”
