Patriot (from the World Bird Sanctuary) was extremely cooperative. Very kind, don’t you think? Have a great weekend, everyone!

Handsome bird, that one.
I thought so, too, S.E!
🙂
My favorite.
Thank you very much, Red!
🙂
What a cool face He has a perfect eye 🙂
I’ve always wanted to photograph a Bald Eagle… I thought the very same thing!
🙂
That’s one serious-looking bird.
I probably should have tried to take a few shots from the Carrot-Top inspired act that followed.
🙂
On one hand I’m all “Oh, how majestic!” but then on the other I’m wigging out and not looking at the screen. Small infant birds scare me. This one’s beak looks like it could eat me whole.
Hahaha… I got the impression that when most of the birds saw me they pretty much came to the conclusion, ‘That one looks kinda weird. Probably not worth the effort.’!
🙂
What a perfectly stunning eagle! 🙂
Have a great weekend, Sig!
Thank you very much, Deb!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, too!
🙂
Hmmmm, so Patriot lives at the World Bird Sanctuary? He is my neighbor then….maybe I’ll go visit him.
Indeed! When I took this he was in the enclosure that was up closest to the entrance… near the restrooms, etc!
I’m sure Patriot would thank you for that!
🙂
He sure is purdy. 🙂
I thought so, too, S&C! The photo really doesn’t do justice (which I hate to admit, but… it’s true)!
🙂
I see feathers..he isn’t bald. Maybe receding eagle is better.
HA!
Now that I think about it I didn’t get a very good look at the other side…
🙂
That really is the loveliest photo of an eagle I’ve ever seen, and coming from Philly you know I’ve seen my share. 😉
Superb work, Inky. Truly superb!!!
That is ridiculously kind of you, Dishy, thank you so much!
I can’t take much credit for that, though… it was all Patriot!
🙂
Hello, Mr. Eagle! Would you like a comb? 😀
Hahaha… I don’t know about the eagle, but it probably looks like I could use one!
🙂
Heeheehee His hair is up in the air 😀
Hahaha… I think mine might be, too!
Let’s just pretend I was trying to do that, though.
🙂
Heehee *hand you a comb* 😀
Hahaha… thank you!
🙂
WOW!!! Wow. Oh man, wow. That’s all I got. Wow.
(That’s a good thing, by the way.)
Thank you so much, Ms. D! You are incredibly kind to say that!
🙂
So majestic and regal!
Hard to imagine that Benjamin Franklin proposed making the national bird the turkey.
It’s so cool you mention that, Ms. C…
Annabelle and I were just talking about that very thing the other day… I can’t remember now how we got on that, but… interesting, isn’t it!
🙂
Beautiful portrait. In the traditions of the First Nations People, the eagle is not a symbol of war or bravery, but of Love. Love is the all abiding spirit that is above us. 🙂
Thank you very much, sir!
Patriot did seem to have a very notable spirit… I think you might be right about that.
🙂
I’ll say he’s being cooperative, SIG! Nice shot!I just want to pet his little head, but he looks kind of intense. I didn’t realize their beaks were so yellow.
Thank you very much, B.F! Well, I pumped-up the over-all saturation a bit… so that might have gotten a bit exaggerated (when it comes to playing with photos I can never help myself, you know)!
🙂
Oh, SIG…it looks great! Whatever you can’t help yourself from doing…it’s working out well! 🙂
Wonderful! Now if only I can figure out what I’m doing, I’ll be set!
🙂
I know you will figure it out, SIG. I have full confidence in you!
I appreciate that very much, B.F… thank you!
🙂
This is beautiful. He looks rather intense.
Thank you so much! And true (clearly the silly faces I was making weren’t all that amusing)!
🙂
I like Patriot, he’s a handsome little fella. He looks cranky, too, which I find endearing. Did you bump up the yellow in his beak?
Seemed like quite the likable character to me, too, Madame!
Hahaha… you know me too well… I bumped up the over-all saturation a bit (except for the background which I desaturated and darkened up a bit… along with a few other little things).
🙂
I like the effect!
I’m very happy to hear that, Madame! Thank you so much!
🙂
A great looking eagle. I love eagles, they just look so majestic
And a cooperative one, too! Difficult to beat that! I agree, Mr. M!
🙂
This one is awesome SIG
and what wicked looking bird 🙂
I really like Patriot for a name
and it certainly suits his look 🙂
You have some excellent patience
there SIG, and have created another
fine example of your work 🙂 Wicked
Geoff
Thank you so much, sir!
Agreed! The name seemed very fitting to me as well! Someone was on their game when they thought of that!
Annabelle and I have made a few visits to this park (and I’ve tried photographing the Bald Eagles before, but really this is about the best one has turned-out so far – a credit to Patriot’s willingness to cooperate with me)!
🙂
They can sometimes surprise us, I know that my cat, Molly is sitting completely still right up to the moment when I click the camera and then almost every time she has moved 😦 lol It is nice when a project such as yours has rewards such as this, and Patriot was definitely a great study on that day, as the results clearly show 🙂 Excellent…
Geoff
You need a nail gun and duct tape, Geoff… right Sig?
🙂 🙂 lol
Geoff xxx
I’ll have all this off in less than a second, kitty…
you know…
like a bandage…
🙂
Hahaha… now that is something I can relate to! I’d say that happens to me about 95 percent of the time… 1) see animal posing like never before… 2) drag out camera, point and… 3) animal moves 4) put away camera in frustration… 5) repeat!
🙂
Yes that it is it exactly 🙂 lmao
Have a great day today SIG 🙂
Ha!
Thank you! Very much! I hope things are going well for you, too, sir!
🙂
Hang on one darn tooting minute SIG. Haven’t you have posted this photo before. Eyes like a hawk 😉
I think it was a different angle or something.
Seriously… what are you guys doing for your memory?! Because I need some of that!
🙂
Who knew Loons had such incredible memory!?
🙂
That is a very nice shot. And a very good subject, too.
So kind of you to say, sir!
I thank you… very much!
🙂
Patriot, love the name. I guess he was rather cooperative, especially when he marked you off the lunch menu. Beautiful bird.
Hahaha… I’m guessing Patriot overheard some bad reviews from a few of the other eagles…
🙂
oh wow.
simply wow.
w.o.w.
thanks for sharing
That is so very kind of you, P&K!
Thank you! I sincerely appreciate your kindness!
🙂
Wow! Love it!
Thank you so very much!
🙂
Well I wouldn’t argue with this bird! Something about this handsome creature reminds me of Sam Ellliot. Great shot Sig, that eye is mesmerising!
Hahahah… I can TOTALLY see that, Ms. K! Good call… no, GREAT call! I love that!
🙂
What a noble bird…love that shot of Patriot! How long did you have to wait for that shot?
I’m so happy to hear you liked it, Mary… thank you!
It’s funny… it really didn’t take very long! Usually I can spend an eternity attempting to photographing animals and they just don’t seem to cooperate… must have been my lucky day!
🙂
Almost as impressive as your Mark Twain. 🙂
No, seriously: A fine portrait. I like it.
Incredibly kind of you to say!
Thank you so very much!!! Both for stopping by, and for your generous comments as well!
🙂
Ha ha, sorry. That mcseanagall is just an afficionado of William Topaz McGonagall. 🙂
🙂
Fantastic Robert. Makes me feel all patriotic. Please stand for the National Anthem.
……..
Thank you.
You are always incredibly kind Mr. L!
I sincerely appreciate that!
🙂
It’s easy to be kind when you honestly admire someone’s work.
Thank you so much, Bo…
I sincerely appreciate that my friend!
🙂
I went to a really nice zoo in Hannover, Germany a few years back. Toward the end of my time there I saw a bald eagle. The first one I had ever seen. It was in a cage. I felt like the Germans had neutered the United States >:-(
Now that you mention it… I don’t think I’ve seen any bald eagles before visiting this place, either…
*rubbing chin in thought / false hope my memory will improve*
🙂
You totally NAILED this one!
not to a wall I hope 😦
Usually I’m the one who has trouble with walls…
*THUD*
hey…
who put that there?!
🙂
Thanks so much, Mr. B!
I’ve been trying for a while… so far I this is about the best attempt, though.
🙂
Lovely shot Bob 🙂 He’s just biding his time… A little bit closer… closer…
Hahahah… Something tells me I’d be a lot slower than Patriot, too!
Thank you very much, sir!
🙂
awesome!
That is very kind of you!
Thanks so much!
🙂
Beautiful image Bob, 🙂
Thank you so much, my friend!
🙂
That is one sexy eagle. Though I’d be scared of that beak. It looks like it means business.
Absolutely!
I don’t know what I was thinking bringing a camera to a beak-fight.
🙂
Damn that’s good!
Just between you and me the Eagle did all the heavy-lifting on this one.
🙂
The eye, the bill, the tip. Stunning.
Thank you very, very much!
Most of the credit goes to the bird… ridiculously cooperative with me!
🙂
