More slinky. I guess.
Ace Ventura: “Everyone loves a Slinky! You gotta’ get a Slinky! Slinky! Slinky! Go, Slinky, go!”
Jim Carrey – Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls
About this image: digital photograph (Canon 300D) lightly modified in Adobe Photoshop
This made me think ‘space ship’ for some reason. Sort of looks like a ventilation duct thingy.
It is a space ship, isn’t it?
Can I buy a ticket?
I can see that, S.E!
I don’t know if I would be brave enough to blast-off into space. Maybe it was all the Star Trek I watched when I was growing up… I guess I’m all paranoid now!
π
Rainbow slinkys are the best though π (but I guess the spaceship effect would be missing :-p)
I think my sister had a rainbow slinky at one point… I also think I might have broken it. But I’m not ‘officially’ admitting to that, you know. π
What a wonderful image Have a great day π
Thank you very much for your kind thoughts, sir!
I hope you have a wonderful day as well!
π
Such a simple toy but so much fun! I could play with one for hours as a kid. Do kids still play with slinkies?
Isn’t it funny? I remember boxes being the same way… I probably shouldn’t admit how many hours I spent playing with boxes when I was a kid!
And a very good question! Do they make digital Slinkies? Because something tells me kids might be into that.
π
Love it! Timeless. Fabulous composition and lighting. Have a wonderful week! Robyn
I’m so happy to hear you liked this, Robyn, thank you!
It was a lot of fun, of course! Well… once I managed to get the silly thing to hold still for a minute or two, anyway!
π
I’m wonderin’ how you got each of the Slinkies to hold still (yes, I had to go look at 1 and 2 as well). Your photo reminded me of another, from long ago when my teen son incredulously unwrapped a Slinky from my aunt who’d apparently lost track of everyone’s ages one Christmas. It had been wrapped so intriguingly, to a person, our interest was piqued. I snapped the photo of the defining moment with hopes of sending it to her, never dreaming what horror I was about to capture! Thankfully, we had kittens to chase it down the flight of stairs. About a hundred times. We’re not too bright, eh? We can never tell fam, but to this day, we threaten that if someone’s not been good all year, they’ll get a Slinky in their stocking! (I love the light you captured in it –awesome.)
Hahaha… I think I can relate to your story! The first few shots went okay… but the more convoluted the shapes I tried to make… the more and more difficult it was to convince the Slinky to hold the pose! Definitely one of those times I could have used a third hand… or a fourth!
π
Looks like a passageway on an alien planet – cooooool!
Thanks, Peg! The more I look at these the more I think the first two might have turned out a bit better… but I thought this was still kind of interesting… in a way… maybe.
π
Drat, somehow my comment posted before I was ready! What I was trying to say was, I hate that movie but love the quote and the photo!
premature commentulation…I hate when that happens.
Hahaha… I don’t even know what that is, Peg…
π
Thank you very much, Madame! To tell you the truth, it’s been AGES since I’ve seen that movie… but Slinky quotes are a bit more difficult to come by than you might expect! Not sure if I’d still be into A.V. anymore, either. I did like Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber, but honestly I like his more serious stuff much better (Eternal Sunshine and Man in the Moon, for example).
π
And fixed! See – no worries, Madame!
Cool! Amazing photo. I’ll never look at a slinky the same way again. You make it look so sleek!
Thank you very much, Amy! They’re kind of fun to photograph… except there are only so many ways you can get them to hold still… it’s almost like they’re all spring-like, or something!
π
How to cause the never ending slinky: Let it go on an escalator π
Hahaha… funny you mention that!
I always seem to have ‘trouble’ with escalators.
Guess I just don’t have enough Slinky in me.
π
The classic Slinky never looked better!
Aw, thanks, Patti!
π
would never have thought that was a slinky until I read the title! I was thinking some little spring from an engine or something!! Nice making something outta nothing!!
Thank you very much, sir!
Hahaha… well… you know… that’s just a very nice way of putting it. Really it was just kinda’ cold out. And I’m lazy like that.
π
Whilst that may be true, you continue to amaze me with your ability to capture everyday things in a manner that shows them off to MORE than their full potential. π
That is ridiculously kind of you to say, Mr. B…
thank you very, very much, sir!
π
If you hadn’t told us I never woulda guessed it was a slinky
Cool-beans! That’s very nice to hear, Mr. M…
I was doing my best to create some unique shapes!
π
You achieved your goal then Robert
Thank you very much, Mr. M!
π
This is brilliant π Hey I have a slinky SIG and I will
have to try one of your artistic camera shoots to show
it off, of course it will never be in the same league as
yours but I might have a go with that in the morning π
Have fun tonight my great friend…
Awesome! And not at all! You are just as humble as you are kind! I am very much looking forward to checking out your photographic work as well!
π
I will have a go in the morning SIG
actually I might even have a go while
I am sat at my PC now how about
that for being keen? π lmao
Have a great rest of evening now SIG π
Hahaha… well… I hope you had a good evening, too, sir!
π
I just added a very poor slinky photograph,
way below your fine and excellent standards
but then I still had fun trying to find a decent
background for the shot π lmao
Have a Fun Hump Day SIG π
I’m intrigued! And I’m really looking forward to checking it out!
Thank you so much! I hope you are having a good one, too, sir!
π
I thought it was some architectual design.
A few years ago I was in a cafe and who was sitting across from me, sipping on a hot chocolate, but none other Bruce Spence (he was one of the bad guys in Ace Ventura 2). So I went up to him and said “Hey, loved you in Ace Ventura 2” . He just about choked on his hot chocolate . The dude has been in the Matrix and Star Wars etc. The movies that haunt!!!!
You’ve got some crazy interesting stories, Loon! Hahaha… some people are so touchy about their filmography. When he got all irritated did you tell him. ‘I know kung-fu.’ in a Keanu Reeves voice!?
π
There is nothing better than telling an actor that you loved them in the movies they want to forget. Can’t wait to tell Clooney he rocked in “The Facts of Life” π
OK, that was a TV show…. but I bet he will give me that fake grin and mutter through clenched teeth …bitch!!!
Well, that wouldn’t exactly be very dreamy of him, would it?!
π
I don’t know why that should upset him.
I particularly enjoyed his work as Mrs. Garrett.
π
A very neat angle on a slinky!
I appreciate that, sir! Thank you!
π
Nice lighting!
Thank you very much! π
Love the shot. I remember when the slinky first came out. We had fun playing with them in our covered wagons.
Hahaha… Slinkies… westward-ho!
Thanks, Bo!
π
So this is what happens when you play around with the time vortex manipulator! Love those silver lines – I swear I can feel a wobble in them!
Hahaha… I always manage to drop a screwdriver into the thing!
π
Great creation Bob , I never imagine how can you do that…… amazing image my friend π
It was fun to play around with! Thanks so much, Jake – very kind of you to say, sir!
π
Great photo! Slinkys are wonderful toys!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CM_sMM_tvX8
Thank you, Mary! Wow – I loved that commercial – thank you so much for finding and sharing it!
π
The slinky is the best invention that man ever made. Great picture Robert.
Hahaha… take that, boring wheel!
π
There are no downers in this series. Metal Slinky. Not one of those day glow plastic things. π
You know what’s kind of funny… we had a plastic one when I was growing up that I may or may not have accidentally cracked in half! OOPS! I mean… you know… had I been responsible, anyway. π
As I recall, the plastic ones we got for the kids were very pretty, but did not work as well as the metal ones. The plastic was not kid proof. It fractured too easily. You have too work really hard to mangle a metal one. π
Hahaha… so funny you should say that… I’m pretty sure when I was a kid all the adults thought I could break a steel ball!
π
Is that kind of like “more cowbell”? Of course, I would take a slinky over a cowbell most days.
HA! I’ve got a fever… and the only prescription… is more slinky!
π
This is making me think of ‘Ren and Stimpy’ for some reason… I don’t recall why though.
HA! REN AND STIMPY! Wow – I had almost forgotten about Ren and Stimpy! Classic!
π
Good old Slinky – always handy for an abstract or two π Nice lighting and composition Bob π
Hahaha… absolutely, Martin! And thank you very much, sir! I appreciate that!
π
I love this, SIG – the way the curves and light play off each other. It’s wonderful.
Thank you so very much, Mr. H…
I keep going back and forth on this one… I think I still kind of like it, but in some ways it seems like the first two were maybe a bit more successful… maybe… or… hmm… *rubbing chin*
π
Beautiful curves π haha
Hahaha… I’m sure the slinky is very happy that you noticed!
π
You make very impressive abstracts.
Very kind of you to say! Thanks so much!
