So… here is a painting… that… I… painted. Have a great weekend, everyone!
Shop assistant: “Hello, can I help you?”
Vivian Ward: “I was in here yesterday, you wouldn’t wait on me.”
Shop assistant: “Oh.”
Vivian Ward: “You people work on commission, right?”
Shop assistant: “Yeah.”
Vivian Ward: “Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now.”
– Dey Young & Julia Roberts – Pretty Woman

Nice work. HAGWE.
Thank you very much!
🙂
I have a word for this painting
SIG and the word that is offered is…
B R I L L I A N T
Have a superb start to your Thursday
my great friend, you have truly excelled
with this awesome painting and thank
you for sharing your immense talents 🙂
Andro
Thank you very, very much, Andro! I sincerely appreciate that!
I hope that you are having a good one, too, my friend! As good as Thursday can possibly allow!
🙂
You clever thing, Robert. Your skills and talents never fail to impress me.
Any more thoughts about a masters?
You are always far too kind, S.E… thank you so much!
Anna and I have spent quite a bit of time researching (and ranking – as best we could) different schools (a few of which we plan to try to visit in a few months). We are hoping to apply to a few for next fall… they are extremely competitive… but I would be shocked if Anna didn’t get accepted into more than one. But I, on the other hand, would be shocked if I was accepted into one (it would literally be like winning the lottery). We’ll see… I guess you never know if you never try, right?! 🙂
Beautiful, but we would not expect anything less from you! 🙂
Aw, thank you! So very much!
🙂
You are a master of our time, Sig!….Pure excellence!
Hope you and Annabelle had a great month off. Now take her out to dinner because she’s exhausted from all that. 🙂
How incredibly kind of you, Deb, as always! Thank you very much!
Hahaha… I might be even more exhausted than she is (she tends to do better with traveling – I spend the whole time worrying about anything that could possibly go wrong – and even a few things that couldn’t)!
🙂
My wife had the pretty woman moment this weekend when she went into a shop in some cutoffs and a tshirt and the first person ignored her. The second got the sale.
Awful. That would happen to me all the time if I was a shopper. Fortunately I walk around dressed like my avatar all the time. So that helps. 🙂
At that store, window shopping is about all I can afford. 🙂
Great work, as always. Wait until you see my “painting” in a post tomorrow.
To tell you the truth I wouldn’t even be able to tell you the difference between something this high-end and something… that’s… not. I’m generally a t-shirt and jeans type – whenever I can possibly get away with it (and even at times when i really can’t)!
Also…
AWESOME!!! I can’t wait to see your work, Ms.C!!! I’m really, really looking forward to it!!!
🙂
I don’t want to get you too excited SIG. It’s really terrible. I’m talking Super Bad! 🙂
That’s what all the talented folks say.
🙂
That’s beautiful! I want that window! 😉
You chose one of my favourtie scenes from that movie. It has always stayed with me.
Thank you so very much!
I have to confess I stole the quote from my wife! Sometimes I’ll have a difficult time thinking of something (which proved to be the case with ‘shopping’, and I’ll ask what comes to mind for her. Of course when she mentioned that scene it was an instant face-palm moment for me… because, of course, it’s a classic – so I had to use it, of course!
🙂
I love this painting! I love when Vivian goes back to tell the store clerk how she missed a big commission 🙂 Unfortunately, high end garments and products are not like they used to be…they are mediocre and cheap looking (my experience)…and the cheaper stuff really looks like _________! Nice job! More, more! Have a great weekend!
I’m thrilled you liked the painting, Mary, thank you! Just between you and me I’m currently working on another that’s similar (in some ways) – I would say I’m about 90% done with the ‘background’ at the moment… so… fingers crossed…
You know what’s funny about this is that… (particularly when it comes to fashion / clothing / etc.) I don’t have the first clue! I mean, it would probably be almost scary if it wasn’t so funny!
🙂
Excellent work!
Many thanks, sir! That is very kind of you to say!
🙂
Here is a comment. It’s not nearly as fabulous as your painting, but it’s the best I can do. Have a great weekend back at you.
That is a fabulous comment, H.C! Thank you so much for your kindness!
🙂
You’ve got TALENT, boy. Really talent.
And perfect movie quote to go with the painting.
Aw, thank you, Nancy! Very much!
Annabelle suggested that quote for me – and then I promptly kicked myself for not thinking of it myself!
🙂
Miley Cyrus? Na, your painting looks way better.
I hope you don’t think it’s too ‘Achy, Breaky’ looking… no wait… that was that other Cyrus, right?!
🙂
Refrigerator magnate is my favourite Chanel. Always in fashion. 😀
Hahaha… I hope it’s not just that the clicker is broken! Thank you very, very much, sir! I really appreciate it! 🙂
Wow! You are always blowing me away with what you can create. Enjoy your weekend!
I’m hoping that with about 20-30 years more practice or so I can really start to do something with these…
🙂
I was sure that was a photograph at first. Your paintings are always amazing, Robert.
You have no idea how nice it is to hear that, Binky… thank you so very much, sir!
🙂
One word: SUPER.
That is an incredibly kind word to hear, sir! Thank you very much! 🙂
wow, this is really, really impressive. way to go – and thanks for sharing!
And thank you so much for your kind thoughts, P&K! Very, very much! 🙂
I don’t have any Chanel goods. Buying them is too rich. :DD Wonderful image. 😀
To tell you the truth I have never been in a Chanel store (but I thought it would be fun to paint one)!
Thank you very much, sir!
🙂
Chanel No 31????
Hahaha… yeah… I’ve got a few watches you might like to look at, too…
genuine thing…
really…
honest.
🙂
Fantastic!!
Many thanks, sir!
🙂
Hey, I recognized this movie quote right away – first time, SIG!
I love the painting.
It really is a classic line, isn’t it? I don’t remember too much from / about that movie (other than that out-take of Julia Roberts laughing / surprised by the jewelry box snapping shut), but that really sticks with me for some reason.
Thank you so very much, Peg!
🙂
Great brush work Robert.
Thank you very much, J.B!
🙂
Once again, I thought it was a photograph. You’re so talented, Robert. Wonderful details.
You are always so very kind, Amy – thank you very, very much! Well… I don’t know about that… but I’m working on it! I’m hoping if I can sneak-in about 20-30 years more practice things might start to come together (speaking of which, I should have another painting posted on Monday – unless I mess something up between now and then).
🙂
We need a new front bedroom window. Our landlord is stingy. I wish he’d go window shopping.
Hahaha… just as long as he doesn’t plan on window shopping the window shopping, I guess!
🙂
Have a great weekend to you, too! I like window shopping, that saves a lot of money! 😀
Thank you so very much, Cristina! Agreed! Saving money is always a good thing (I think)!
🙂
The ultimate in fantasy shopping SiG! Brilliant work!
Why, thank you, Ms. K! Thank you very, very much for that!
🙂
