Terra Firma Thursday. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Beautiful. π
Thank you very much, sir!
π
So simple, but yet so interesting. Makes me think of the moon landing or something like that… π
I’m happy to hear that! Thank you!
This reminded me a bit of the moon as well! I think maybe the dark sky has something to do with that?!
π
Yes, I think so too π
π
Stunning. MM
Thank you very, very much!
π
Reblogged this on Icanbeatit.
I would like to hang that over my sofa . . . it’s engaging and calm, imperative and peaceful.
How incredibly kind of you to say, Nancy! Thank you so much! It’s exactly that kind of place! Annabelle and I have spent many hours sitting in this spot (or, one where we’ve cleared away a few of the stones, anyway)!
π
Looks a surface of some lunar planet we have yet to discover!
It does look a bit… lunar-ish, doesn’t it?! It didn’t quite so much out of the camera, but I guess I must have been feeling kind of ‘spacy’ when I was editing this one!
π
LOL spacy is GOOD! It’s got GREAT LINES and your use of contrast really gives great definition to each stone.
Hahaha… *whew*! That is very kind of you to say! I felt like there were quite a few directions I could have gone with the post-processing in this one… but sometimes spacy just wins out!
π
Well VERY good job! I enjoyed it!
π
It does remind me of a moonscape too. Enjoy your weekend.
I thought so, too! I think maybe it’s some combination of the harsh lighting and the dark sky… and all the rocks!
π
I thought all your rocks were in your head.
When I turn my head to the side a few always fall out.
π
Love it! π
Wonderful! Thank you so much!
π
Wow, Robert. I really love this. I hope this isn’t a stupid question, but it is really sand? In any case, I imagine if you could see sand up close, magnified, yes, then this is what it would look like. Amazing!!
Not a stupid question at all, Amy! The unusual viewpoint (and the blur and processing) tends to do some unusual things with how scenes like this seem to ‘read’ (I think, anyway)! It is indeed sand (the smallest ‘grains’)… and a whole lot-o-rocks (that must have taken quite a few years to work their way out of the lake)! π
Yep, looks like another planet and a very peaceful one … probably because there aren’t any humans there. π
Hmmm… sad to say… but you might be right about that, S.E. Humans have a way of messing with things like that, sometimes. π
Most of the time, I’d say. π¦
π¦
Wonderful picture.
Thank you very much!
π
I love the eye of an artist. Not that I am putting myself in the same category as an artist, but we just never know what will attract the eye and make a wondeful photo. Happy Thursday!
I know what you mean, L.B… I feel the same way about that when describing myself, but I would say you absolutely are! Speaking of ‘the eye’, you have quite an impressive one yourself, you know! I always appreciate (and respect) modesty, just be sure not to sell yourself too short!!! π
Fantastic image! Very lunar and otherworldly.
How kind of you to say, thank you! This is a ‘typically’ serene place (view on a post-card kind of way)… funny how much the post-processing… kind of… well… did… this!
π
It feels like the rocks are going to come alive. There’s so much “movement” in the photo, if that makes any sense at all. π Have a great weekend SIG!
It’s so interesting you mention that… because one of the first things Annabelle said when she saw this one was that it reminded her of this movie we had just watched (go figure I’ve forgotten the title) which takes place on the moon… and the moon-rocks turn into these tiny, crab-like creature things. Thank you very much, Ms. C! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday weekend, too!
π
To the moon Alice!!! Nice to see you stoned π
Hahaha… I was just imagining myself on the moon. Talk about some space program comic relief!
π
It looks like Mars!
It kind of does, doesn’t it?! Hahaha… this might explain a few things about me, Binky!
π
I noticed some thought it looked like Mars or the Moon. I was thinking moon when I first saw. All I can say is that this post is far out! π
Thank you very much! I was thinking that space was the place, too, Dave! I’m always a bit hazy on the details.
π
beautiful and loved the low perspective π
Thank you very much! It is such a beautiful place (difficult for me to mess it up too badly)!
π
That place may be on the moon. It’s very clear and pure.
For some reason this reminded me of the moon, too! I think it was the combination of harsh lighting (and how dark I made the sky). Thank you very much, sir! π
Stunning – beautiful monochrome
How kind of you to say, sir! Thank you!
π
I like the rough texture of the stones!!!
I’m very happy to hear that! This is defiantly the right place to find them!
π
This is awesome, and so ‘Lost in
Space’ quality, I love this one SIG π π
I hope that your weekend
has been none stop fun π
Andro
Many thanks, Andro!
I can’t complain – things have been good in space!
I hope they’ve been good in your space, too!
π
Yes very nice thank you SIG π
Andro
Excellent! I’m very happy to hear that, sir!
π
I knew the world was really flat! That’s the edge, isn’t it? My mom would have loved this, she was always collecting nice rocks.
Hello?! Is anyone up there?! I don’t suppose you’ve brought a rope?! π
Annabelle does that, too, Patti… I try… but it takes a special eye.
π
Really fabulous Robert! Almost looks like a scene from a sic-fi movie. Enjoy the holiday weekend! Robyn
Many thanks, Robyn! It’s such a cool place (I had difficulty messing things up too badly)!
And thank you again! I hope you are having a good one as well!!!
π
That’s just beautiful, Sig! π
Have a great week! π
How kind of you to say so, Deb! Thank you very much! I hope you have a good one, too!
π
Great shot. How was the holiday vacation to Mars ? Could you remember it wholesale (indirect movie reference) ? π
You know what’s funny about my time on Mars…
at the moment…
I just can’t seem to… ‘Recall’…
π
Love it! Way to get down and dirty to get it!
Hahaha… you know what’s sad is I always get down and dirty… it’s the ‘getting it’ part of the photographic process that always gives me trouble.
π
Oh that’s where my rocks fell out of my head. lol
HA! Oh, no! If that’s the case they’re gonna get all mixed up with mine!
π
love the perspective here.
Hahaha… it wouldn’t be a typical day out with the camera if I wasn’t rolling around in the dirt.
π
Looks like a beautiful day for a stoning
Ha! From the looks of the aftermath it’s probably a good thing I made it back in one piece!
π
So – Finally – Full public disclosure – It was you who faked the Apollo landings for NASA! Don’t know how you fooled everyone – this looks like Brighton beach π Nice B&W Bob π
Hahaha… well, I could tell you that, Martin… but then when I disappeared ‘they’ would probably tell you I was taking a vacation on the moon (or something along those lines)! π
Ha! Many thanks, sir! π
I’ve been watching “Survivor” every day possible while unemployed, and it just hit me the other day, 17 days in, that as much as I claim to love the beach, I would haaaaate to be covered in tiny rocks all of the time. You know it’s all in their food and everything. ANYWAY, this is a really cool shot. I love imagining what you blacked out.
DUDE! I just realized… I don’t think I’ve ever seen an entire episode of ‘Survivor’! Seriously… what the heck is wrong with me, U.M?!?! Send for help! At this rate I’ll be voted-off my own blog! π
