It does look a bit… lunar-ish, doesn’t it?! It didn’t quite so much out of the camera, but I guess I must have been feeling kind of ‘spacy’ when I was editing this one!

LOL spacy is GOOD! It’s got GREAT LINES and your use of contrast really gives great definition to each stone.

Not a stupid question at all, Amy! The unusual viewpoint (and the blur and processing) tends to do some unusual things with how scenes like this seem to ‘read’ (I think, anyway)! It is indeed sand (the smallest ‘grains’)… and a whole lot-o-rocks (that must have taken quite a few years to work their way out of the lake)! 🙂
Yep, looks like another planet and a very peaceful one … probably because there aren’t any humans there. 😉
Hmmm… sad to say… but you might be right about that, S.E. Humans have a way of messing with things like that, sometimes. 🙂

It’s so interesting you mention that… because one of the first things Annabelle said when she saw this one was that it reminded her of this movie we had just watched (go figure I’ve forgotten the title) which takes place on the moon… and the moon-rocks turn into these tiny, crab-like creature things. That place may be on the moon. It’s very clear and pure.

I’ve been watching “Survivor” every day possible while unemployed, and it just hit me the other day, 17 days in, that as much as I claim to love the beach, I would haaaaate to be covered in tiny rocks all of the time. You know it’s all in their food and everything. ANYWAY, this is a really cool shot. I love imagining what you blacked out.
