Alcott (in progress)

Here’s more of my ‘author series’ (Poe here – Twain to follow). I’ve been turning these drawings into 3-D / Mixed Media pieces… but… it’ll probably be a while before I post images of a finished product.

Louisa May Alcott Drawing: “I could write a whole novel in less time. Even without  hands. Seriously, dude. I’m a drawing.”

Me: “Geez Ms. A… that’s kinda harsh…”

Louisa May Alcott Drawing: “My bad. Only trying to amp things up a bit.  Red Bull?”

Poe (in progress)

It’s been a while since I posted a drawing, so here’s a look at Eddie. I drew him as part of a mixed media author series. This drawing’s done, and the piece itself is about 95 percent finished (which means I should have the whole thing complete in about a decade or so).

Raven: “Knock knock!”

Poe: “Who is there?”

Raven: “Orange…”

Poe: “Are you serious? Come back when you’ve got some decent material, dude!”

Rhinoceros

Here’s a drawing of a Rhino… he hopes everyone has a great weekend. I do too. More stuff on Monday!

Stuart MacKenzie: “HEAD! PAPER! NOW! Move that melon of yours and get the paper if you can, haulin’ that gargantuan cranium about.”

Tony Giardino: “SSShhhhh…”

Stuart MacKenzie: “I’m not kiddin’, that boy’s head’s like Sputnik… spherical but quite pointy in parts…”

Four Kings

I’m still indecisive… which explains the 4-styles-o-Elvis. In the end, I might prefer them combined. Besides, 4 kings can be a difficult hand to beat.

Teddy ‘KGB’: “Lays down a monster… should have paid me off on that. The **** did you lay that down?” *throws tray of Oreos across room*

Mike McDermott: “Not Hungry?”

Teddy KGB: “Mr. Son of a *****, let’s play some cards!”

Houdini… (complete)

So, just to bore thrill my captive readers a bit more, I’ve decided to post my completed ‘Houdini Project’. It has changed slightly from before, after some general abuse and just a tiny bit of fire damage (pretty much just a standard weekday around here).

Anyway, tune in again tomorrow for something different-ish. And remember, only you can prevent Houdini fires. Or… something like that.

About this image: charcoal drawing – digitally colored, distressed and mounted in 8″x10″ frame… thing.

Houdini… (in progress)

Okay… I just posted a drawing two days ago. For a project that wasn’t finished. So what could be better than posting another drawing? For another project. That isn’t finished. It’s a two-fer. And a race to see which piece I actually complete first. What a nail-biter.

Beethoven: “Dude… I was like… totally here first!”

Houdini: ” Yeah, well… I know magic!”

Beethoven: “Muah. I know kung fu!”

Houdini: “I know the kung fu hustle!”

Beethoven: “Well played, sir… well played!”

Beethoven… (in progress)

I decided to change things up today and post something… unfinished. Well, the drawing is finished, but that’s only part of this project. Hopefully I’ll have the final product ready to show you in the next week or two. What a cliff-hanger. Wow.

Me: “Sorry I’ve abstracted your hair so much, drawing of someone else’s photo of a bust of Ludwig van Beethoven.”

LvB: “Whatev’. My hair is naturally stubborn. Like it’s made of marble.

Me: “Bummer, dude.”

LvB: “You’re telling me. I condition every 24 hours… still nothing. Lamesville.”

Ol’ Blue Eyes

I was considering saving this post for Frank’s birthday… but who can wait for next December? I don’t have that kind of patience. Also, some days I just feel “Ol’-er” than others, so this piece seemed appropriate.

Any favorite Frank tunes?

Anyone have blue eyes?

Anyone have ‘the voice’?

Anyone a chairman / chairwoman of the board?

About this image: Charcoal drawing/portrait with digital selective coloring – gel medium transfer onto record (not an authentic Frank – it’s the Harmonicats… if I remember correctly) mounted on 8″x10″ panel.

E Pluribus Unum

Hey, hey it’s Abe’s birthday (well, tomorrow, anyway)! That’s why I’ve posted this mixed media 3/4 Abe Lincoln Face I made a while back for my sister.

Me: Happy b-dizzle tomorrow, big A!

3/4 Abe Lincoln Face: We’ll, HONESTLY, 3/4 of my face does feel a year older.

Me: Well, as they say, it sure beats the alternative, I guess.

3/4 Abe Lincoln Face: You said it, bro.

About this image: charcoal drawing, digital text, and copy of Lincoln’s inaugural; gel medium transfer on copper toned 10″x10″ panel.
