So… you might be ‘used to’ my level of ‘random’. Er… I hope.

Frank Reynolds: “Well… I don’t know how many years on this earth I got left… I’m gonna’ get real weird with it.”

Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada

Here’s my latest painting (with apologies to the good people at Kodak, and the fabulous city of Las Vegas, Nevada).

Trent: “They’re gonna’ give daddy the Rainman suite, you dig that?”

Mike: “Do you think we’ll get there by midnight?”

Trent: “Baby, we’re going to be up five hundy by midnight!”

Mike: “Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh!”

Trent: “Vegas baby! Vegas!”

Mike: “Vegas!”

– Vince Vaughn & Jon Favreau – Swingers

Window Shopping

So… here is a painting… that… I… painted. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Shop assistant: “Hello, can I help you?”

Vivian Ward: “I was in here yesterday, you wouldn’t wait on me.”

Shop assistant: “Oh.”

Vivian Ward: “You people work on commission, right?”

Shop assistant: “Yeah.”

Vivian Ward: “Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now.”

– Dey Young & Julia Roberts – Pretty Woman

NDSCS A101

I painted this for the folks at Horton Hall (North Dakota State College of Science). Somewhat ironically it’s the first time I’ve used a compass in about a bajillion years. Have a great weekend, everyone.

Lois: “Have you designed any buildings in New York?”

George Costanza: “Have you seen the, ah… new addition to the Guggenheim?”

Lois: “You did that?”

George Costanza: “Yup. Yup. It really didn’t take very long, either.”

I finally finished my ‘nose art’ painting (Glenn Miller, anyone?)!

Captain Miller (of propaganda): “… ‘The Statue of Liberty is kaput’ – that’s disconcerting.”

I’d hoped to share a milk droplet photo today, but after several hours of complete failure set-backs I decided to take a break and post some vector art instead. Take that, foodstuffs. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Ron Burgundy: “It’s so damn hot… milk was a bad choice…”

From Russia with Love

from_russia_with_love

I’m painfully slow, but this painting took f-o-r-e-v-e-r. Due to its scale I used a pin to paint quite a bit of the background (St. Basil’s Cathedral –  a building I’ve always had a crush on). Partially inspired by ‘From Russia with Love‘ and instant film  it seems pretty cool that 1963 was significant in the history of both… (according to my… um… ‘research department’, anyway).

Tatiana Romanova: “The mechanism is… Oh James, James… Will you make love to me all the time in England?”

James Bond: “Day and night. Go on about the mechanism.”

Daniela Bianchi & Sean Connery – From Russia with Love

I might have jumped a little. Full-disclosure. Although, on second thought, I’m pretty sure I could out-run this dude. Still, such creepiness will probably affect the tip.

Wes Mantooth: “What, you guys can’t say one thing?! Even the guy that can’t think said something! You guys just stand there?! Come on!”

Twain (in progress)

Friday is Mark Twain’s birthday so posting one of my author drawings seemed appropriate-ish (Poe here and Alcott here). I’ve been transferring these drawings into 3-D / Mixed Media pieces (about 95% complete) which I hope to finish in a decade or so. If I’m lucky.

Mark Twain: “Are you ever gonna finish one of these confounded ‘projects?’ I swear, son… you are slower than molasses on a winter’s morn’!”

Me: “Mole… asses?!” *giggle*

Mark Twain: *sigh* “I do declare… that boy may be a bit dull, but at least he’s plain-spoken!”

Of Reposts and Shameless Self-Promotion

I usually don’t repost things, but I was so shocked pleasantly surprised to learn this photo made it into The Antique & Classic Camera Blog Image Contest I decided to make an exception! If you’ve got an extra minute or two please consider checking out all the other great entries (featuring some beautiful equipment and processes). And, if you feel like it, please vote for any of the eight images you like best. Although, if entry No. 4 happens to be your favorite… I wouldn’t feel too badly about that.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
