Water Lily

Shadow detail… HA! Rules. Whatever, dude.

Walter Sobchack: “You mark that frame an eight, and you’re entering a world of pain.”

Smokey: “I’m not…”

Walter Sobchack: “A world of pain.”

Smokey: “Dude, he’s your partner…”

Walter Sobchack: “Has the whole world gone crazy? Am I the only one around here who gives a s**t about the rules?! Mark it zero! ”

Eads Bridge (faux wet plate collodion)

With all these flowers I’ll probably post a color version of the Eads Bridge too, but being its completion was way back in 1874 I couldn’t resist sharing a fake wet plate version first.

Sherlock Holmes: “Look at those towering structures. It’s the first combination of bascule and suspension bridge ever attempted. Most innovative. What an industrious empire.”

– Robert Downey Jr. – Sherlock Holmes

Chrysanthemum

Here’s a very similar set-up to my last chrysanthemum post, only today’s image wasn’t back-lit, which changed the feel of things quite a bit (I think).

And Duct Tape is good stuff. Just to reiterate.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Adam Savage: “Having been unable to coax a bird into my snare, I’ve changed direction… and I’m not actually building a Duct Tape spider web here, I’m building a net that will lay across the forest floor, and when a chicken walks across it, I’ll snatch him up… kind of like the Ewoks from Star Wars.”

Japanese Garden

Here’s a photo from the Japanese Garden at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Which means it must be time for a little something from an old stand-by / one of my all time favorite films: ‘Load up the random Lost in Translation quote! AND… SCENE!’

Kelly: “John, John. You are my favorite photographer. ”

John: “Ohhh… ”

Kelly: “No. You are! I only want you to shoot me. It’s true! Oh my God… I have the worst B.O. right now, I’m sorry!”

– Anna Faris & Giovanni Ribisi – Lost in Translation

Weekly Photo Challenge: Flowers

For those who remember my burning pear,  here is an image that found it’s way onto the back cover of Chiasma. I was thrilled! I was honored! They… must have been… desperate.

I took a few liberties with this weeks challenge (yet again) as the above isn’t strictly a photograph. But… I started out with one (processed the film myself). And hey, I won’t tell if you won’t.

Eli Cash: “Well, everyone knows Custer died at Little Bighorn. What this book presupposes is… maybe he didn’t?!”

– Owen Wilson – The Royal Tenenbaums
