East Side City Lights

east_side_city_lights

This is a very old photo (an early attempt with my first digital camera). It’s a study in mistakes. Technically, it’s just… awful. Still, I kinda like it for some reason. Maybe it’s the somewhat eerie colors illuminating those wisps of smoke… maybe it just reminds me of how excited I was to be taking photos… or maybe I’ve just bounced off my head one too many times. Either way, have a great weekend, everyone!

Parking Structures

It’s grungy parking bits day (or abstracted view-o-ramp to get there day, anyway). Have a great weekend, everyone!

Nick Miller: “Why are you holding Fish Sticks?”

Jessica Day: “Because… I’m gonna go scare the feral cats away that live in my current parking spot, Nick… I’m gonna throw Fish Sticks at them… while singing memory and… don’t you dare criticize me!”

Permeable Area (and Bearman Cartoons Charity Challenge 2013)

Permeable Area © Robert Jay Matejcek

Today’s post is a vague reference to cartooning legend Bearman’s green-haired avatar… and his annual charity challenge! If you haven’t already, please click here to find out how Bearman is once again donating his very own green to some great charities including: The Cincinnati FreeStore Foodbank,  The Brandon C Gromada Head and Neck Cancer Foundation and Crayons to Computers. It’s a good deal from a good dude.

Somewhere Over the Twin Cities…

I’m blaming this on turbulence. Which there totally was. Really. Honest. Er… peanuts, anyone?

*note* I’ve revised the title of this post as several viewers pointed out this shot was actually taken over St. Paul (sister-city of Minneapolis). Thanks for the heads-up, folks… I will figure out where I am one of these days. Really. Honest. Er… pretzels, anyone?

Tony Giardino: “What are you doing? Wake up!”

Pilot: “Ooooh man! I was having an amazing dream!”

Tony Giardino: “I don’t care about your dream! Land the plane!”

Pilot: “I was just born, and I was eight-and-a-half months premature. The doctors were freakin’ out.”

Tony Giardino: “Oh please, shut up!”

Pilot: “Did I already tell you this dream?”

Rock Hill Chop Suey

Holy moly… I’ve been gifted a smart-ish phone! Pretty much all I did to the above in Photoshop was to airbrush a few things out… the rest was all done in-phone. Wild. If only I could figure out how to make a phone call.

Steve Zissou: “I’m on the echo box. Push the red button to answer.”

– Bill Murray – The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

(I’ll label any photos taken and/or edited via phone in the ‘About this image’ info at the end of my posts… just in case anyone is curious.)

A Little Hole in the Wall

This doorway is built into the side of a ‘tunnel’ in/under the Eads Bridge, downtown STL. Kinda interesting. I wish I wasn’t so shaky, though (as you can see the following conversation didn’t work out very well for me).

Me: “Sooooo… do you… come here… often?!”

Tripod: *sighs & rolls eyes* “Puhleeeze.”
