Sidewalk, Concordia Park

More trees. More fog. More… other things… on Thursday.

Walt Bishop: “I’ll be out back. *sigh*  I’m going to find a tree to chop down.”

  1. Heavy. Noir-ish/romantic.. an evening or morning that could go either way.– and/or one can picture Kafka’s Gregor looking out on it from the deeper trees.. Oh, great –now I’m scared to look in on Thursday! (Well done!)

    • Oh, wow – thank you so very much, Carol! If I had your talent with words I wouldn’t even have to have all the silly pictures!
Hahaha… no worries… Thursday should be fairly calm… I hope.
      🙂

      • Oh, my, how often I’ve thought that if I had a visual talent like yours, I wouldn’t need all the silly words! It’s more human(e) –and likely more fun– to say something with a photo or a sculpture.

        • Thank you so very much for your incredibly kind comments!
I always hate to hear people knock their visual talent, though… I have absolutely no doubt it’s there, if you just give it a chance!!!
          🙂

  2. Oooooh, lawdy! That is spectacular! I always adore black and white photography, yours is ethereal, and highly professional too. Boy, you’ve just got to open up an online shop – people will buy prints for Christmas, I swear! They’re selling pics all over Etsy, too.

    • Aw, shucks! Thank you, Spectra… very, very much!
I don’t know about that… I just take about a million photos a time (which insures I’ll have one or two I don’t completely hate… sometimes, anyway)!
      🙂

    • Normally it probably wouldn’t be nearly as sinister a place, Ms. C… but the fog really hid a lot of more every day ‘stuff’ from view (which does kind of help if you want to hide a random coffee house or two)…
      🙂

  3. Beautiful Image!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and liking “If Ungrateful”. Glad your visit led me here. I look forward to seeing more of your work as I am really enjoying your images.
Please stop by and visit my blog again soon!

    • I was very happy to do so! Sometimes when I have a few minutes I like to scroll through the WP ‘Photo’ tagged images, and your work definitely caught my eye! And with the volume of cool stuff on W.P… that takes some doing! I’m very much looking forward to checking out more of your images, too!
      🙂

    • I’m so happy to hear you liked this one, B.F! Especially since I was so excited to see the fog, too! I think it’s so wild how much it changed the way I saw… pretty much… everything! Kind of fun!
Thank you again, B.F! You are always so very kind!
      🙂

    • Many thanks, Red! I’ve been wanting to take some fog photos for such a l-o-n-g time now…
I was so excited to get the opportunity a few days ago! I was like a kid in… a very foggy… candy store!
Thank you again, Red! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well!
      🙂

  4. The scene is set and all we need now is a horde of Zombies walking over that rise, red eyes and shouting Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaains 🙂 I really like the atmosphere on this one SIG you’ve done a wonderful job creating this misty offering )

    Androgoth

    • Hahaha… indeed, Andro! I’ll have to remember to use a longer lens next-time…
a zombie hoard would make for some pretty interesting subject matter…
but I’d sure hate to give them a chance to catch me!
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts, as always, A.G!
      🙂

  5. pardon the whisper, but this place doesn’t lend itself to shouting. can you hear that hush of silence? what might it be hiding? you just never know who might be standing behind one of those trees, so am keeping it down.

but i did want to say, er whisper, what a fantastic composition. the fog adds such an element of drama to those tree silhouettes. and those lamp posts trying to stand up to that fog….. so cool. thanks for sharing.
*tip-toeing off now, (slink, slink).* you just never know.

    • *trying to remember to use my ‘inside’ (and foggy photo) voice*
Thank you so very much, P&K!
I have been wanting to try some fog photos for quite some time now, so I was pretty excited to look out the window and see I might get a chance at it! And then I was thrilled when I managed to get my camera & get outdoors… and it was still there!!!
      🙂

    • Isn’t it interesting how much it changes the things we get so ‘used-to’ seeing, Nancy?!
Kind of fun, I think… especially when it hangs around long enough to get out a camera!
      🙂

  6. Serene yet stark enough to be menacing. The orderliness of the lampposts stands in contast with the gauzy quality of the fog.

  7. So much inviting warmth in this foggy scene SiG. Perhaps I have my weather wires crossed but a decent fog in your captivating shot is as exciting to me as palm trees and sunsets are to others!

    • Thank you so much, Ms, K!
I have to say… I was pretty excited to find that fog outside my window when I woke-up… I had been wanting to try shooting in some for a very long time, but never seemed to have the opportunity! I couldn’t help but think it was pretty amazing how much it transformed my impressions of things I see nearly every day!
      🙂
