It’s looking a bit dry… I might do okay on the shallow end.

About this image: digital image taken with smart phone and heavily modified in Photoshop to replicate wet plate collodion
Both of them are delightful 😀
And both make me wish for warmer weather! I’m so happy that spring might finally be here!
🙂
That would be a hard landing off that diving board!
Absolutely! My nose agrees with you!
🙂
Great treatment. What a sad pool. I always feel lonely when they are that low.
I feel the very same way, Red… I prefer warmer weather and happier pools (although there’s something kind of eerie about empty ones that make them fun to photograph)!
“)
wonder if that pool will be cleaned and used this summer?
I wish summer would get here so I could find out! Can you tell I’m getting a bit impatient for some warmer weather?!
🙂
So vintage. Love it! Have a terrific week! Robyn
I’m so happy to hear you liked this one, Robyn! Thank you very much! I hope that you have a good one as well!
🙂
Hey, that seat has my name on it!…But you can sit in it. 🙂
Love the black and white of this image, Sig. Really gives it a 1950-60’s look.
Have a great day and week! 🙂
Thanks, Deb! That’s very kind of you! Usually I get into trouble for stealing other people’s seats like that! 🙂
And thank you very much yet again! I hope you are having a good one, too!
🙂
Just hanging around the edges of this great shot, waiting for summer to burst!
Me, too, Ms. K! Me, too! Come-on, summer!
🙂
It’s time to get the pool guy out there, Robert. I bet the pool is cold, too! I like the feel of this one, all in anticipation for the new season. Very cool. I hope you’re getting some warmer weather soon!
Hahaha… absolutely! It’s time for that pool guy to stop hibernating already! Summer will never get here at that rate!
Seriously, though, I really shouldn’t complain – it still seems a bit cool to me, but we have had a lot more sun (finally)… so that really helps, I think!
🙂
Love it. A Wet plate of a dry pool. Anyone jumping in that pool is definitely behind the 8 ball.
Hahaha… absolutely! And bound to pick up a ‘scratch’ or two!
🙂
I almost expect to see people in 1800’s period clothing wander by
Just give me a minute… just adjusting my top-hat…
🙂
You done a great scene for this image Bob , what a great place for summer 🙂
Many thanks, Jake! Agreed! And I’m sure looking forward to that warmer weather! It seemed like a pretty l-o-n-g winter to me!
🙂
Did like 6 people die in that pool…all those crosses….oh never mind.
I think those are just subtle reminders I need to wear my floatation device…
🙂
I can smell the chlorine already. 🙂
*sniff sniff sniff*
Ahhhhh….
🙂
cool
Thank you!
🙂
What a cool shot. It’s a great skill because you used smart phone.
Thank you very much, sir! That is a wonderful thing to hear! I was happy to have my phone with me, because I was not expecting to come across this!
🙂
I would hate to get thrown into that pool. Not exactly pool party ready.
Hahaha… I think it’s B.Y.O.W. (bring your own water)…
🙂
It needs a good top-up before I try a dive in there 🙂 lol
As always your creativity rocks the blogosphere, well done
on such a fine offering SIG 🙂
Hahaha… I’ll see what I can do, Andro! I’m sure the faucet is around here, somewhere!
And thank you very much, sir! As always!
🙂
maybe I’ve seen to many NGO logos lately.. is it a red cross swimming pool? :-p
Hahaha… only if I dive in (I tend to sink easier than I float, you know)!
🙂
Then you should swim more in salty water :-p Then you always float 😀
Sounds like some very good advice to me! I guess I’ll have to keep that in mind (if I ever work-up the courage to leave the beach, that is)!
🙂
This reminds me of a favorite Twilight Zone episode about 2 kids, troubled by their parents’ divorce, who find a doorway to another world at the bottom of their expensive pool. When things get really bad, they dive down into the pool and never come back. I always wondered – is what we think of as suicide really someone diving into another reality that the rest of us just can’t see?
Well…oKAY Peg. Way to bring the party down!
Lovely photo, SIG; a delight to the senses and the muses.
You know what’s really Twilight Zone-ish? I don’t think I’ve ever seen an episode of that show! Which strikes me as really strange, because it seems like the sort of thing I would have at least checked out a few times! I guess it must just have never been available in my network(s)… seems strange… very, very… STRANGE! *DUN DUN DUN*!
🙂
That IS really strange – now I’m hearing the ominous music. I’d think you’d love that show.
You need more wet replication….pool isn’t full yet.
Hahaha… turning on the faucet was hard work.
I needed to take shut it back down and go take a nap.
🙂
I think I might take a seat in the pool. In the shallow end where you’ll be, um, swimming. 🙂
Hahaha… see what happens when I bounce my head off a mattress wall a few too many times?!
🙂
Ha ha!
I don’t know much about photography, and least of all faux wet-plate, but I’d say this shot is stunning. I really like it. It’s got sort of a noir to it — I expect to see Bogart come by and thoughtfully light up a smoke!
To tell you the truth I wish I knew a lot more about it myself! Maybe someday I’ll actually be making the real things – now that would be Bogy cool!
🙂
too cool!!!
I thank you, sir! Very much!
🙂
Splish splat.
It does look old and abandoned and sad. Poor pool!
Hopefully it will be feeling a bit better, soon (if spring ever arrives so we can get to summer, that is)!
🙂
that is one cool pool. 🙂
Thank you very, very much!
🙂
Of course this processing makes the pool look interesting, but what an interesting pool to begin with. It looks so retro. And a little bit . . . frightening? It seems like the water is almost black. I can’t quite spatially work it out. Eek.
It was a bit eerie looking… empty pools are kind of fascinating like that, I think! Although with my swimming skills (or complete lack of them) full ones are, too, really!
🙂
Arrgh! – The Pool… That’s a bit like having a bath isn’t it… 😦 The image makes me think of The Dead Pool and the long since demolished swimming baths on Squires lane where I used to go as a kid 🙂 Nice one Bob!
I tend to have the same reaction to pools, Martin! Fun to photograph, but they always remind me of my ‘buoyancy issues’… which might be funny to watch from a distance, but it’s not much fun to participate in (unless we’re talking about some very, very shallow water)!
🙂
