I might do away with describing ‘levels’ of Photoshop manipulation in my photos. They’re pretty much always over-cooked. This shot, for instance, had decent tonal-range. At one point. But that’s been ‘modified’. In Adobe Photoshop. Boom.

Levels, dodge and burn, paper contrast – in the end they make for a better image regardless of the capture medium.
And it’s just part of the fun! Maybe that’s part of my problem… it just have such a good time with it all that it’s difficult to force myself to stop!

Over-cooked–LOL That describes my efforts in the kitchen. However, your work is still palatable. Lots of character in that old building.
Ha! Did we go to the same culinary institute, Patti?! That sounds a lot like my cooking. Only I don’t just stop at an over-cooked ‘shell’. I usually tend to leave everything in the middle completely uncooked and raw.

Where is this wonderful old building located Bob? Your PS work on the photo makes it appear almost like a sketch. Pretty amazing. Dig the shadowing on the building (top of the front door especially) as it makes me want to step inside. Perfect framing of the shot.

This is near a very small place (no kidding, right?) – Lentner, Missouri. My wife and I often drive past there on our way up North to see my family (it’s a few miles west of St. Louis, if I’m remembering correctly… which, knowing my memory… probably not).

It does have a kind of eerie feel too it, doesn’t it, Andro? I think that’s in part because of all the problems that occurred from my just letting it rip without really knowing what was happening with my camera (the colors, blur, etc.). But I was so excited to be taking photos I didn’t even care at the time! Previously I’d had a few very cheap point and shoot type film cameras, but nothing that allowed me to customize settings like aperture value and shutter speed, etc. Hahaha… although clearly I wasn’t really making use of those things by this point!
