Lentner Farm Supply

I might do away with describing ‘levels’ of Photoshop manipulation in my photos. They’re pretty much always over-cooked. This shot, for instance, had decent tonal-range. At one point. But that’s been ‘modified’. In Adobe Photoshop. Boom.

‘Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes…’

    • Very cool! For some reason I was having a difficult time thinking of an appropriate movie quote for today, so, well… I figured I couldn’t go wrong with a little Bowie! Thank you so much!
      🙂

    • I’m very happy to hear that, thank you!
A little pumped-up contrast seemed appropriate (although probably pretty ‘expected’) for the subject matter… but… well… you’ve probably noticed I tend to get a bit carried away at times. And by ‘a bit’ I really mean ‘very’.
      🙂

  1. Oh, who cares! It’ fun to adjust the look of an image. It’s art! And guess what?…Your great at it!
Love this image just the way it is! 🙂
    Have a great week!

    • Aw, thanks, Deb! I guess I tend to look at it that way, too! Getting to mess around with these things is just half the fun!
I thank you again! I sincerely hope things start to treat you well, too, Deb!
      🙂

  2. Over-cooked–LOL That describes my efforts in the kitchen. However, your work is still palatable. Lots of character in that old building.

    • Aw, thanks, Amy! Well, the changes do tend to be half the fun! I just have to learn how to stop myself from getting to carried away ‘some’times. And by that I mean most times, if I’m being honest.
      🙂

    • I was hoping some wild contrast might be appropriate here (although possibly a bit ‘expected’)…
but you know me, Binky… I tend to get a bit carried away with these things!
      🙂

  3. Excellent composition. At first I thought it read Sweet Lassy Leather Farm Supply. Combine that with David Bowie and the chain of thought is quite different. 😀

  4. Where is this wonderful old building located Bob? Your PS work on the photo makes it appear almost like a sketch. Pretty amazing. Dig the shadowing on the building (top of the front door especially) as it makes me want to step inside. Perfect framing of the shot.
    Another winner!

    • This is near a very small place (no kidding, right?) – Lentner, Missouri. My wife and I often drive past there on our way up North to see my family (it’s a few miles west of St. Louis, if I’m remembering correctly… which, knowing my memory… probably not).
Thank you so very much! I tried shooting this from a few different places / angles, etc, but in the end this is the one I think I like best. Which makes all my rolling around in the ditch seem almost normal now, right?! 🙂

  5. Oh, have been a major league Bowie fan since high school and have seen him live too many times to count. Okay I could but that’s not important right now heh.
The Changes lyrics are my current life. Your piece and accompanying words fit the image and made me feel your work even more intensely.
    You rawk!

    • Thank you so very much, Ms. B! I’m a pretty big fan, too. I was just watching a movie last night with ‘Heros’ on the soundtrack… of course I couldn’t help but ‘sing’ along (which I’m sure wasn’t completely annoying or anything like that 😉 )! 🙂

    • It’s funny you should say that, because I always think the same of English buildings! Not to say that American buildings don’t have character and history… but you have… well… such a considerably longer history…
      🙂

  6. I love this! There’s no reason Sweet Lassy isn’t my nickname. This place closed a long time ago, right? Part of me is convinced that it’s been out of business since 1955, and part of me thinks this is how every thriving business in every tiny town still looks today.

    • Aw, thanks, U.M! I… um… I think it’s been closed… for… a while… (how is that for a convincing answer?)
I should have run up to the windows and yelled something like, ‘Shop-keep? Shop-keep? Do you hear me, man? I say, is there anyone about?’ just to make sure, though.
Thank you very much, Sweet Lassy!
      🙂

  7. This could almost be the last building
standing after the apocolypse, wow my
train of thought is of doom today but
what a fantastic photograph you have
offered us here 🙂 I think that adding
all the details is interesting, being that
your average reader will be green, but
not neccesarily cabbage looking 🙂 lmao

Have fun today Robert and keep
entertaining us with your flair for art 🙂

    Andro

    • It does have a kind of eerie feel too it, doesn’t it, Andro? I think that’s in part because of all the problems that occurred from my just letting it rip without really knowing what was happening with my camera (the colors, blur, etc.). But I was so excited to be taking photos I didn’t even care at the time! Previously I’d had a few very cheap point and shoot type film cameras, but nothing that allowed me to customize settings like aperture value and shutter speed, etc. Hahaha… although clearly I wasn’t really making use of those things by this point!
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind thoughts, (as always, Andro)! I appreciate it very, very much, sir!
      🙂

  8. A great shot SiG, Sweet Lassy would be proud! As an aside, I have always had a soft spot for those three windowed front-doors, the external version of the flying ducks across the the sitting-room wall.

BTW, how much would you have liked to poke around inside, and have you seen this?

    Wishing you a great week-end!

    • Oooo… I had not seen that, Ms. K… how RIDICULOUSLY cool is that?! It might be trouble for me, though… I’m not sure I’d be able to pull myself away from a place like that (fascinating)!!! Thank you so much for sharing that with me! And I hope you had a wonderful weekend as well!!!
      🙂
