Here’s a photo I took doing about 60 mph (don’t worry – Annabelle was driving). It’s a bit blurry, but I kinda’ like that. Have a smokin’ weekend, everyone – more stuff Monday.
I am not your rolling wheels… I am the highway
I am not your carpet ride… I am the sky
I am not your blowing wind… I am the lightning
I am not your autumn moon… I am the night…
– Audioslave – I am the Highway
About this image: digital photograph, lightly modified
I like the flashes of light
Thanks, N.M. – yeah, it might be a bit flat without them…
🙂
I thought that was something on the windshield 😦
Hahaha…
oh, I’m sure there was plenty of stuff there, F.L.! 🙂
very cool photo!
Thank you so much! 🙂
You were driving so fast the smoke left a trail instead of going up.
Ha! Do I have any flies in my teeth?!
🙂
Love this. It plays tricks with me…. I wonder if the smoke was pulled one way, after a car went speeding by – Or, is it like a train, and the smoke stacks are steaming ahead … So many options. Nicely done – blurred or not blurred.
Thanks so much, Ms. D!
Smoke many choices, smoke little time! 🙂
It makes me think of the Titanic. Full speed ahead!
Or that really bad Speed sequel on the cruise ship.
Great photo!
Hahaha… I’m the king of the interstate!
(sorry – my Leo is a bit off)
Thanks so much! 🙂
What I like best is the soft blue-black color. Not big on smokestacks but this is calming.
I agree, Jason – this one seemed to work better with a ‘cool’ feel…
🙂
Nice. The cropping makes me think of a rearview mirror.
Thanks Mr. J – it seemed to work a bit better in ‘extreme’ landscape…
🙂
Really liking the pollution in the picture. Does that make me evil? 🙂
Ha! I hope not… ’cause I really like looking at those big plumes-o-smoke, too! 🙂
Definitely an “other-worldly” feel to this image.
I think the darkness and the tone add to it.
Nicely done!
Thank you very much for the kind words, sir – and thanks for stopping by as well! I really appreciate it! 🙂
Don’t let Al Gore see this!!!!!!!
Ha! You wouldn’t happen to have his e-mail address, would you, Loon?! 😛
No, too inconvenient 🙂
HA! Isn’t that the truth?
🙂
I’m glad you weren’t driving!
Looks a lot like that around here. Ugly smokestacks! They look better in your picture, though.
Ha! Safety first you know, Binky!
Thank you, sir – I gave it a go, anyway! 🙂
“Have a smokin’ weekend” Okay I think I will, but I can’t promise I won’t inhale. 🙂
Hahaha…
Either way, I hope you have a good one, Lynn! 🙂
Cool photo! Again it makes me long for the open road. Stupid lame Missouri… why am I stuck in you?
More than anything I long for a nap, Annabelle.
🙂
This image brought to mind the industrial landscape (‘dark satanic mills’) described in William Blake’s poem ‘The New Jerusalem’
Ah – very interesting!
Thanks so much for stopping by, Duncan! I really do appreciate it! 🙂
This reminds me of the time that I was in LA trying to get on a bus to the train station to go back to SFO but then the bus war really late and I was afraid I was going to miss the train so I hitched a ride with someone on the same route (which I should not have done in the first place). He was driving so fast in the freeway that the image looked like the one above. I did arrive at the station in one piece and promised myself not to hitch a ride again. Have a nice weekend SIG!
I’m happy to hear you arrived safely – sounds like quite the trip! I think I would have been hanging onto that seat for dear life!
Thanks for stopping by, sir – I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well! 🙂
It looks great with all the toxic polluting smoke belching out into the atmosphere…
Ha! So you’re saying that you’re completely smitten, Tony?! 🙂
Even blurry it’s a great shot. You have captured what I have seen so many times on the road… and made transformed it into ART! I love the blue tones and the feel of motion! 🙂
ooops, typing error! I meant, transformed it into ART.
Thank you very much, Juana – you are always so kind! 🙂
I wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t pointed it out (I’m the king of typing errors)!
love it. i can feel the movement.
Thanks so much, U.M. – I figure if I take enough shots out the window every now and then one will be… okay-ish…
🙂
haha…some of the comments are pretty funny…my fav is about the “toxic polluting smoke belching.” I hope you had a good weekend 🙂
Ha! *Burp* I agree!
Thanks, Mary! I hope you had a good weekend, too! 🙂
This makes me think of Gary, IN and many other relics in the rust belt.
The blurriness is KEY here – makes you appreciate the feel of the road. Or in my case, the fact that I am seated stationary behind a desk. hah!
Hahaha… I’m seated behind a desk, too – but I’m not sure I feel very stationary! I think I might be falling over (and that I need a nap)! 🙂
Audioslave… man I wish they hadn’t cracked up….
Me too – loved ’em.
Chris Cornell’s got some pipes…
no doubt!!! Great driving music for sure.
awesome image and awesome song
Astra Wally
Thank you, sir!
I’ve probably listened to that song a hundred times already (and I still love it)!
🙂
