You know, I don’t think I liked them as a kid, either.
I guess it’s been a long time since I’ve tried them… so in all fairness I should probably give them another chance… but… nah!
π
You are far too kind, Laura – thank you!
Some pieces are just easier to fake than others…
I can usually tell that fairly early on… which helps out quite a bit!
π
I’m with you on the circus peanuts… and circuses for that matter. Yuck. Is that a word? Circuses? Spell check seems to think so but I’m not convinced… anyway yeah, I hate circuses. Mostly because of the clowns. I hate clowns. But I love your elephant! π
Thank you so much, C.O.R… I really do appreciate your kind comments!
The funny thing is I was trying to draw an alligator… I have no idea how this happened!
π
And YOU are too kind, M.P.! Thank you!
Hahaha… perhaps it just takes a more refined palate…
I’ll have to give them another shot some day. If I can just build up the stomach courage…
π
Thank you, sir… you are very, very kind!
I’ve done a few (?guess I’ve only posted one, though?)… I might just put up a few in the future.
The thing about drawing people is creating a resemblance to the actual person (you’ve got much more talent in that department, Bearman). With animals… it’s pretty easy to ballpark things and consider it all a ‘success’.
π
Echoing the sentiments of others (because I agree, not because I enjoy being a copy cat), I thought this was a photograph. I had to do a double-take, triple-take, etc. Wow, SIG. You done got talent! You done got a ton o’talent!
You are so kind, Ms. D – thank you very, very much for your wonderful comment!
Hahaha… I am a fan of the copy cat commercial, though! Have you seen that one? I think it’s for Staples…
π
Thank you very much! That is terribly kind of you!
Spay fix hates me, by the way! In 30 seconds always seem to cloud over a 15 hour +/- project!
Grrrrr!
π
I don’t know about that… everyone pretends they can’t draw, and they’re unusually just being very, very modest!
(And I think a straight line is one of the more difficult things to draw…)
Thank you, U.M!
π
Inky…you should draw more…you are talented! I hate going to the circus period…My husband tells me I am too literal π The Circus Peanuts you mentioned are those horrible orange candies?? The worst candy ever, IMO.
Mary
And you are too kind as well! Thank you very much, Mary!
*yuck* Sometimes the thought of those things is enough to keep me out of the candy isle, too. Which is probably a good thing. π
I guess clowns don’t bother me too much, but I know a lot of people who dislike them. Personally, I find bright orange ‘peanuts’ much more frightening! It’s not right, I tell’s ya’! It’s not right!
Thank you so much Dishy, you are always far too kind!
π
Geez-O-Pete that is terribly kind of you to say, sir!
Thank you very, very much – I really appreciate your kindness!
(Chuck Close is the man – the Museum here in St. Louis has a few pieces… and WOW!)
π
Thanks so much, U.M… that is very kind of you!
Ah, yes… the perils of working with wild creatures… it takes one to attempt a drawing of one, you know.
π
What do you have against circus peanuts?
Hahaha… the real bags-o-peanuts? Nothing.
The neon orange candy variety, however… yeah. *shudders*
π
Oh, my!! I can’t stand those either. I think they are horrendous!! Not even when I was a kid did I like them… ugh!
You know, I don’t think I liked them as a kid, either.
I guess it’s been a long time since I’ve tried them… so in all fairness I should probably give them another chance… but… nah!
π
You know, if you didn’t label them, I wouldn’t be able to tell which of your pieces are drawings and which are photographs.
But I love your elephant! π
You don’t like clowns?!
Really?!
NAH! I don’t believe it, Annabelle… why has this never come up before?!
π
Clowns are the devil in disguise π
*dun dun dun*
π
No kidding Loonie! If I see a clown I run in the other direction. If there is no where to run I hide. For reals.
Run Annabelle? I saw IT and there ain’t nowhere to hide π¦
Maybe if we hide in the tiny clown car they won’t be able to find us amongst themselves… that whole forest for the trees thing…
π
or Washington…plenty of clowns there to hide amongst!!!
HA!
That’s one show I’ve seen quite enough of already!
i too, thought it was a photograph. that’s a great piece of skill you have there SIG!
Thank you so much, C.O.R… I really do appreciate your kind comments!
The funny thing is I was trying to draw an alligator… I have no idea how this happened!
π
I also thought that it was a very nicely taken photograph till you mentioned that it is a drawing so I am even more amazed!
You are so generous with your comments, sir…
I really appreciate your kindness…
it always makes my day!
π
Your skills are endless!
A.Wally
As is your kindness, Astra!
Thank you!
π
Amazing, SIG. I too thought it a photograph. Elephants have such beautiful eyes.
Thank you so much, S.E… you are so kind!
They DO, don’t they!? I don’t know if I had noticed that before I started this project…
π
I thought it was a photo too. You Sir are a top class artist
As are you, Tony!
Thank you!
π
Another vote here for I thought it was a photograph! THAT is spectacular!
Haven’t had them in years, but I used to love circus peanuts… probably explains a lot. π
And YOU are too kind, M.P.! Thank you!
Hahaha… perhaps it just takes a more refined palate…
I’ll have to give them another shot some day. If I can just build up the
stomachcourage…π
You draw too? Shut the front door. Definitely a dude of many talents…. This is amazing!
Eh…
I try.
And if I try enough, every now and then one works out a bit better than the others.
Thank you so much, S.D.D. – you are so kind!
π
That is amazing. I thought it was a photo. How come you don’t draw your wife?
Thank you, sir… you are very, very kind!
I’ve done a few (?guess I’ve only posted one, though?)… I might just put up a few in the future.
The thing about drawing people is creating a resemblance to the actual person (you’ve got much more talent in that department, Bearman). With animals… it’s pretty easy to ballpark things and consider it all a ‘success’.
π
If you call what I do talent..then you are delusional
Hahaha… delusional? Probably… just not about this!
π
Awesome! I also thought it was a photo at first. You really have a lot of talent! Looking forward to see more of your drawings π
That is so very kind of you to say, Y.P… many thanks!
I’ll try post one ever so often… I haven’t been doing as many as I was for a while, though…
π
Echoing the sentiments of others (because I agree, not because I enjoy being a copy cat), I thought this was a photograph. I had to do a double-take, triple-take, etc. Wow, SIG. You done got talent! You done got a ton o’talent!

π
Did you draw this? Good stuff!
Thank you, sir!
I really appreciate that!
π
Circus peanuts suck me in every few years. I forget that one or two are good but any more and I feel sick.
They do look deceptively acceptable.
The second I catch the slightest whiff of one I’m instantly reminded of the pain, though.
π
I also thought it was a photo. Outstanding.
Somebody pass the spray fixative to preserve that charcoal.
Thank you very much! That is terribly kind of you!
Spay fix hates me, by the way! In 30 seconds always seem to cloud over a 15 hour +/- project!
Grrrrr!
π
Excellent ! There is a line between a drawing and a photograph. I can not see the line because your elephant has totally obscured it. Well done.
Thank you very much, sir – that is awfully kind of you to say!
Hahaha… he is a rather opaque fellow…
π
whoa there, you drew that? amazing. i can hardly draw a straight line.
I don’t know about that… everyone pretends they can’t draw, and they’re unusually just being very, very modest!
(And I think a straight line is one of the more difficult things to draw…)
Thank you, U.M!
π
It really does look like a photograph. A really good photograph. As a drawing, it’s amazing.
I really appreciate that Binky… thank you so much for such a kind comment (as always)! π
Looks like an elephant deep in thought. Maybe he forgot where he left his car keys?
You’re not kidding…
I’m constantly picking up after they guy.
So to speak.
π
Elephants are evil like that!!!! Mine never closes the fridge door and my ice cream keeps melting π¦
Ha!
They stand on a tiny chair just one time and they think they own the place…
π
Really good, I too thought it was a photograph.
Thank you very much for the kind comment (and for stopping by as well)! I really do appreciate it!
π
Your drawings are so amazingly realistic… I was convinced this was actually a photograph until I read your text… Amazing SIG…
You are far too kind, F.S… thank you very, very much sir!
π
wow wow wow
Thank you, thank you, thank you, N.M.!
You are always very kind!
π
That is a drawing? It looks so real. Amazing!
I really appreciate that!
Thank you very much!
π
Fantastic!! I also thought it was a wonderful photo until I read the charcol bit. Well done my friend!
Thank you so much for visiting and for your wonderful comment as well!
You are very kind!
Which is probably a good thing. π
I agree w/ Annabelle – clowns are SCARY. As are circuses. But I love elephants and I esp. love this drawing. It’s lovely.
I guess clowns don’t bother me too much, but I know a lot of people who dislike them. Personally, I find bright orange ‘peanuts’ much more frightening! It’s not right, I tell’s ya’! It’s not right!
Thank you so much Dishy, you are always far too kind!
π
This is a beautiful drawing!!!
Thank you so much, Ms. A!
And than you very much for stopping by as well!
I really do appreciate the visit!
π
What an amazing drawing, Sir!! Who did it??? It’s awesome!
I drew this (although I did use a reference I photo I didn’t take)… I’ve been posting only my images here (so far, anyway).
Thank you so much, sir – that is very, very kind of you to say!
π
It’s true!!! Really good technique and very delicate art…
Thank you very much, sir!
The original is much bigger (14″x14″ or so) which helped a lot…
π
Wow! That is a beautiful drawing.
Thank you so much, sir!
I really appreciate your kind comments!
π
Holy hell! You drew this guy? AWESOME!
Just a matter of building up layers of tone.
Thanks, Y.A.W. that is very kind of you to say – I really appreciate it!
π
This is a drawing?! My goodness, it looks like a friggin’ photograph! Chuck Close ain’t got nothing on you, my friend.
Geez-O-Pete that is terribly kind of you to say, sir!
Thank you very, very much – I really appreciate your kindness!
(Chuck Close is the man – the Museum here in St. Louis has a few pieces… and WOW!)
π
Amazing talent! I always enjoy your blog. You are one gifted artist.
Thank you so much – you are very, very kind.
I sincerely appreciate that!
π
Whoa, dude! I thought this was a photo and was wondering how you managed to get such a good picture of a wild creature. CRAZY! Nice work, clearly.
Thanks so much, U.M… that is very kind of you!
Ah, yes… the perils of working with wild creatures… it takes one to attempt a drawing of one, you know.
π
elephant looks sad …
I think so, too…
π
thats a great drawing you captured the sad face elephants have xxjen
That is very kind of you to say, J.G… thank you!
This one took some time, but it was a lot of fun, too!
π
You drew this? @0@ It looks so real that I thought it was a photograph!!!!You are so talented!
And you are so kind!
