Chica del Sol

I’m not sure what’s up with all the color I’ve been using lately. Too much sun, maybe. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Buster Bluth (climbs out of car trunk): “Mexico.”

Narrator: “In fact, Buster was in Santa Ana, a town six minutes inland from his own, but the combination of losing his glasses and breathing carbon monoxide had impaired Buster’s judgement.”

Buster Bluth (seeking shelter under a trampoline): “Eeehhh… this shall keep me safe from the hot Mexican sun. ”

    • Hahaha… indeed! MUST… FIND… SHADE!
Spain sounds amazing, though! I hope you’ll be taking some photos there as well! I can’t wait to check those out! But then, I can’t wait to check out whatever it is you’ve been working on, Ms. F!
      🙂

    • Thank you very much Ms. K!
Hahaha… I can imagine that / those conversation(s)… too much fun! I never would have put that together, though! Thank you for doing so – I’ll be getting a laugh out of that all day now!
      🙂

        • I’m so embarrassed right now, N.M… I didn’t even realize this was the title to a song… I’d better go look that up! I guess in the future it would probably be wise for me to do so FIRST, but as you can tell, the research department is quite a bit lazier here than the staff at the Gimcrack…
          🙂

    • Man… I’ve been hearing so many Arrested Development stories… movie rumors, etc… it seem like something has to be happening after all this. Well, I hope it does, anyway.
      🙂

    • Very happy to hear that, Ms. D!
This is another one that ended up with a completely different ‘feel’ than I originally had in mind, but I think I’m cool with that.
      For now, anyway.
      SPF-Thank you, Ms. D!
      🙂

    • Hahaha… you said it, Dishy! The ironic thing is that she has such fair skin… if she sees a sunrise on TV she’ll burn from the couch! Lots of SPF for this Chica del Sol (but that’s really for the best, anyway, I guess)!
      🙂

      • Lol! This is so true. I have a very complex relationship with the sun. Today, I was outside for all of 3 minutes and I was dashing from one shady spot to the next because it was so hot and bright! My friend who was with me at the time did not withhold her judgement or her comments about me being a closeted vampire.

    • Hahaha… agreed, Ms. C!
Gob was my absolute favorite, just because he was so… so… Gob (and always seemed to be doing the last thing(s) I would try in a situation), but poor Buster was very underrated!\
      Thanks so much!
      🙂

  1. It is different to see you use these yellows and oranges lately, but guess what…I like it!
Thanks for all the comments you left today…your awesome!
Have a great weekend, my friend, and my best to Annebelle…always.
    Hugs xx

    • I’m very happy to hear that, Deb, thank you! As you know my instinct is to try B/W or sepia first, but color seemed like too much fun to pass up here!
My pleasure! It’s always so much fun to check out all the wonderful projects you’ve been working on!
And thank you again, Deb! I will do that!
      🙂

  2. Whatever it is, it is working. The color is terrific. And you have a great subject 😉

When you get a chance, I would love your opinion at my place on Creatively Speaking…
    Red.

    • Black is always classic, though, J.G.! In fact, originally I had in mind this one would be mostly dark… I’m not sure why I lightened it up so much at the end… I’ve been using a LOT more color than usual of late!
      🙂

    • Funny… after you said that I did a quick ‘Google’ to refresh my memory (the things we have to do for research, right 😉 ) and the colors on this look incredibly similar to those on the C’mon C’mon cover art… wild!
      🙂

  4. Wow Grooooooooooooooovy posting this one SIG
I like it a lot and the colouring works exceptionally
well I think 🙂 🙂 Brilliant piece of art as usual SIG 🙂

Oh by the way you need to get
into my Space from this comment
and not any of the older one’s as
    they don’t work anymore 😦

Have asuperb rest of weekend SIG 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Andro!
This is another one of those images that started off with a much different color palate in my mind… and then… well… revisions, I guess!

Thanks for the the tip, too!
I plan on stopping by tomorrow to see what you’ve been working on and I would have been pretty bummed out if I couldn’t get my links to work properly!!! Technology… amazing when it works… beyond frustrating when it doesn’t!
      🙂

  5. All andro53 comments are okay to use SIG
but clicking on any of the older comments is
where the trouble starts, well not for you my
wickedly fine great friend, but clicking on an
old comment will direct you to a page where
it shows a deleted Space 😦 Not good for me
to lose my ghoulishly excellent friends that
way so remember, it’s all the most recent of
comments that will grant you access 🙂

Have a fun day SIG 🙂

    • Thanks for the heads-up, A.G!
Tomorrow might have been a long day if you hadn’t told me that… I’m a bit ‘slow’ you know, so you can bet there would have been plenty of clicking and palms to the forehead when I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong!
      🙂

    • Thanks much, Tony! I’ve been into these longer landscape formats lately… I think it’s because I’ve been thinking about skateboard designs / layouts lately…
      🙂

  6. This could work well for a restaurant. My wife says I am watching too many Food shows when I am not pouring through BBQ & Baking books. 😀

    • Hahaha… perhaps you could gently remind your wife there are guys out there (like me) who struggle to make toast… she’ll probably go to the library and get you more books herself! Oh… hang on… I think something in my kitchen is burning… AGAIN… yup… there goes the smoke detector…
      😉
